Job Summary

The Senior Accounting Manager - Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting is responsible for the management and oversight of the SEC and External Reporting functions of the organization.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Drive execution of complex tasks and responsible for reviewing team deliverables.
Selects, develops, motivates and coaches a highly skilled and technical staff to ensure high productivity and quality of work​.
Provides support to other departments as a subject matter expert​.
Provides technical expertise to support maintenance and improvements of internal systems.
Supports compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls and finance transformation initiatives and process improvement efforts.

Role Specific Accountabilities:

Manages financial reporting policies and processes for accurate and timely preparation of financial reports and other information to support SEC and other external reporting requirements.
Periodically conducts disclosure benchmarking and other analysis to stay abreast of financial reporting trends and techniques.
Works closely with functions across Vistra to ensure accurate information is included in quarterly, annual and transaction related SEC filings.
Supports the Company’s debt offering-related activities, including the review of offering memorandum.
Manages a team of staff accountants supporting the financial reporting workstream
Assistance with other technical accounting matters, as needed

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related

Experience:

6+ years of experience in Accounting or related field​
4+ years experience in supervisory role​
Experience with public company financial statements either in industry or at a public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred)
Experience preferred in the Energy industry​

Skills:

• CPA preferred​

• Experience with accounting and/or reporting systems​

• Strong leadership, problem solving and communication skills​

• Broad understanding of accounting the accounting close process
