About Polymarket

Polymarket is the world's largest prediction market platform. We enable individuals to express views on real-world events by trading on outcomes across politics, economics, sports, culture, and current affairs. Built as a peer-to-peer marketplace with no centralized "house," Polymarket aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities that reflect collective expectations about the future.

We're growing fast, both in terms of volume ($21B traded in 2025) and adoption as an alternative news source. Our ambition is to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media and we need your help adding fuel to the fire.

About the Role

Polymarket's finance team is small, serious, and building the infrastructure to support a company operating at global scale. Reporting directly to the Controller, the Senior Accounting Manager will own the close process, lead technical accounting, and build the systems and controls that will carry us through the next phase of growth. This is not a maintenance role. You'll be stepping into a company that moves fast, trades in high volume, and operates at the intersection of crypto and traditional finance. The accounting function needs to keep up with all of it.

The mandate is straightforward: bring rigor and speed to financial reporting, establish the controls and processes that a company of our scale requires, and be a genuine thought partner to the business. You'll work directly with cross-functional teams on new products, international expansion, and M&A activity. When something new is being built, you'll be in the room figuring out how it gets accounted for.

This hire matters because we are at the stage where getting accounting right has real consequences. Sloppy close processes, weak controls, or gaps in technical accounting judgment don't just slow things down. They create risk for a company with serious ambitions. We need someone who has done this before, is not afraid to build from scratch, and holds themselves to a high standard.

What You'll Do
  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end to end, including GL operations, journal entries, reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews, hitting deadlines consistently under US GAAP.

  • Research and document technical accounting positions across complex areas including revenue recognition (ASC 606), business combinations (ASC 805), and internal-use software (ASC 350-40), and communicate conclusions clearly to executives and non-accountants.

  • Lead the financial reporting process, support external audits, and build the internal controls framework as the company scales.

  • Manage intercompany accounting and consolidated financials across domestic and international entities as we expand globally.

  • Scope and implement accounting systems that improve speed, accuracy, and scalability, including ERP tools and automation.

  • Partner with legal, product, and business development on new initiatives including product launches, monetization changes, and M&A activity, advising on accounting implications from the start.

  • Define and document accounting policies for crypto-native platform activity, a genuinely new area where you'll be setting precedent rather than following playbooks.

What We're Looking For
  • Active CPA license required.

  • 8 to 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience, with direct exposure to both high-growth private companies and public company environments.

  • 3 or more years of Big 4 public accounting experience, strongly preferred.

  • Deep technical GAAP knowledge with demonstrated ability to research complex accounting topics, write clear memos, and explain conclusions to a non-accounting audience.

  • Experience leading a close process in a high-transaction-volume environment with a track record of hitting deadlines without sacrificing accuracy.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • Comfort working in modern finance tools. Familiarity with systems like Ramp, Brex, or a modern ERP is expected. Interest in learning new tools quickly is required.

  • Strong Excel skills. You need to be able to build and own models, not just read them.

  • (Plus) Direct experience with crypto accounting or digital asset platforms.

  • (Plus) SQL skills or willingness to learn. We will teach you if you're close.

  • (Plus) Experience with international accounting, multi-entity consolidations, or M&A transactions.

Benefits
  • Competitive salary & equity

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Full Health, Vision, & Dental coverage

  • 401k match

  • Hardware setup: new MacBook Pro, big display, & accessories

Pay Transparency

Base salary range: $125,000 to $200,000 annually, plus equity and benefits.

This range reflects a good-faith estimate for this position. Experience levels vary widely within a title here, so please reach out even if your expectations fall outside it. We're always happy to chat.
