Eligibility Requirement
ASA‑track candidates meeting the SOA Rule of 5 with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Credentialed ASAs or FSAs may wish to explore our Associate or Actuary roles aligned with their credentials.

Position Purpose

Assist in financial analysis and forecasting, pricing, and risk assessment to estimate outcomes. This role supports actuarial forecasting and financial analysis for ACA Marketplace individual and family health insurance products, including evaluation of emerging experience and cost trends.

In this Senior Actuarial Analyst role, you will:

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculate financial outcomes, with a focus on healthcare cost forecasting for ACA Marketplace products, including analysis of medical and pharmacy trends, utilization patterns, and overall financial performance.
  • Assist with developing probability tables based on analysis of statistical data and other pertinent information, incorporating emerging Marketplace experience and changes in population mix.
  • Analyze and evaluate required premium rates and support estimation of financial outcomes for individual health insurance products.
  • Assess cash reserves and liabilities to enable payment of future benefits, supporting broader understanding of financial risk and sustainability.
  • Develop and run data reports, including independently pulling, preparing, and analyzing large claims and membership datasets to support forecasting, reporting, and actuarial analyses.
  • Create financial and analytical exhibits and communicate the results to both technical and nontechnical audiences, summarizing key drivers of cost, utilization, and financial performance.
  • Assist with determining the equitable basis for distributing money for insurance benefits, applying actuarial judgment to Marketplacespecific considerations.
  • Participate in merger and acquisition analysis, as needed, by supporting financial and actuarial evaluation.
  • Use SQL to extract and validate data and analytical tools (e.g., R or similar) to support modeling, automation, and recurring analyses that enhance forecasting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Support process improvement and automation efforts to improve scalability, consistency, and timeliness of actuarial analyses.
  • Maintain documentation of methodologies, assumptions, and data sources to ensure transparency and continuity.
  • Provide guidance, review, and informal mentoring to more junior analysts, supporting technical development and analytical best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a datadriven analytical role, with the ability to interpret results, identify patterns, and ask the right followup questions.
  • Comfort working in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces, where requirements and assumptions may change as new information becomes available.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings clearly and work effectively with others in a team environment.

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience. Combination of years of experience and number of actuarial exams passed equals or exceeds 5 (Rule of 5). For example, 2 years of actuarial experience and 3 passed actuarial exams.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Sponsorship and future sponsorship are not available for this opportunity, including employment-based visa types H-1B, L-1, O-1, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, or CPT.

Pay Range: $70,100.00 - $126,200.00 per year

Centene offers a comprehensive benefits package including: competitive pay, health insurance, 401K and stock purchase plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off plus holidays, and a flexible approach to work with remote, hybrid, field or office work schedules.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law, including full-time or part-time status.  Total compensation may also include additional forms of incentives. Benefits may be subject to program eligibility.
