Senior AI Application Developer (React / Next.js)
$62/hr | W2 | Remote | 6-12 months (contract)
Del Oro Consulting is seeking a Senior AI Application Developer to design, build, and deliver modern AI-powered enterprise web applications. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who excels at building scalable React/Next.js applications, integrating AI services, and creating maintainable, high-quality software.
The ideal candidate is a senior engineer who can independently own technical workstreams, build scalable AI-enabled applications, make sound architectural decisions, and deliver clean, maintainable code while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Build reusable, modular UI components and scalable frontend architecture.
- Integrate REST APIs, backend services, authentication, and AI/LLM capabilities.
- Develop responsive, accessible, and secure user experiences.
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot complex application and integration issues.
- Participate in architecture, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical design discussions.
- Mentor developers and promote engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software development experience with strong expertise in React, Next.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
- Experience building enterprise-scale web applications.
- Strong understanding of component architecture, state management, API integration, and modern frontend development.
- Experience with authentication (OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT) and secure application development.
- Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Playwright, Cypress, React Testing Library, or similar).
- Proficiency with Git, CI/CD, and Agile development practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Required AI Experience
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI services (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or similar).
- Experience building AI-enabled features such as chat interfaces, prompt workflows, RAG, semantic search, or intelligent automation.
- Understanding of prompt engineering, AI API integration, and responsible AI development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Node.js, Express, NestJS, or Next.js API routes.
- Familiarity with AWS or Azure cloud environments.
- Experience with Docker, Storybook, monorepos (Nx/Turborepo), or micro-frontend architecture.
- Experience modernizing or refactoring enterprise React applications.
