At Visual Concepts, we believe great games are made by diverse and empowered teams with a shared passion for play. As one of the world’s top game development studios, we have shipped over 100 multi-sku titles to critical acclaim and commercial success. Our teams are independent and ambitious. Our studios in Novato, Irvine, Budapest, Shanghai, Austin, Boise, Seoul and Parksville, Canada are committed to artistry and ground breaking technology, offering top candidates the opportunity to learn and grow with some of the hardest working and most creative minds in the industry.
What We Need:We create NBA 2K and our teams push the boundaries of realism, scale, and player experience—and now we’re investing deeply in artificial intelligence to redefine how games are built.
We are looking for an exceptional AI Engineer to help design and develop intelligent agents that will fundamentally change the way our games are made. This role is not about simply improving existing pipelines or automating isolated tasks. It’s about exploring new, AI-driven approaches to game development that can unlock brand new workflows, capabilities, and creative possibilities.
You’ll work at the intersection of AI research, systems engineering, and game development, helping shape a long-term vision for how intelligent agents can augment and transform the work of developers across disciplines.
What You Will Do:- Design and implement AI-driven agents that assist, collaborate with, or autonomously perform complex development tasks across large-scale game projects
- Create agents that can understand game engine context, assist in asset generation, debug complex systems, or simulate player behavior at scale
- Identify bottlenecks in traditional game dev (design, QA, coding, or art) and bridge the gap with AI-driven solutions that turn weeks of manual work into hours of supervised generation
- Collaborate with gameplay engineers and technical artists to integrate these agents into our proprietary engine and toolsets
- Explore novel applications of modern AI techniques (e.g., LLMs, reinforcement learning, multi-agent systems) to create new ways of building, iterating on, and shipping games
- Work closely with engineers, designers, artists, and technical leadership to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-powered transformation
- Prototype, evaluate, and iterate on experimental systems, balancing long-term vision with practical integration into real production environments
- Help define internal platforms, tools, and architectures that enable AI agents to operate safely, effectively, and at scale within our development ecosystem
- Stay ahead of emerging research and industry advances, translating pioneering ideas into production-ready solutions
- 5+ years in Software Engineering, with at least 2+ years focused specifically on AI/Machine Learning
- BS/MS in Computer Science, AI, Robotics, or a related field (or equivalent "in-the-trenches" experience)
- Strong background in AI, machine learning, or applied research, with experience building real-world systems (not just models)
- Hands-on experience with modern AI frameworks and techniques, such as large language models, agent frameworks, reinforcement learning, or hybrid symbolic/ML systems
- Excellent software engineering skills, with experience working in large, complex codebases
- Expert-level proficiency in **Python** (for AI/Tools) and **C++** (for Engine integration)
- Demonstrated success deploying agentic workflows or complex ML models into production environments
- Ability to think beyond incremental optimization and envision entirely new workflows enabled by intelligent systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams
- Passion for games, interactive systems, or creative technology is a major plus
