If you’re excited about building impactful technology in a dynamic, hands-on environment, we’d love to hear from you!
About the role
- We are seeking a Senior Algorithms Engineer to research and develop the algorithms that power our high-performance sensing products for robotics and physical AI applications. The algorithms you build are consumed downstream by our physical AI perception team and by the customers who integrate our sensors. The role spans signal processing, detection and estimation, spectral analysis, camera and image processing, computer vision, and machine learning, applied across sensing modalities and increasingly combined with one another. You will take algorithms end to end: from research and prototyping, through validation in simulation and against real-world scenarios, to bring-up and integration into customer platforms. This is a deeply hands-on role. You will derive the algorithm, get it running, and then prove it holds up on real sensor data at scale, closing the gap between what simulation predicted and what the hardware actually does in the field. You will work closely with hardware, firmware, silicon, and system teams.
What you'll do
- Research and develop DSP and detection algorithms across the full sensor processing pipeline, including spectrum analysis, filtering, estimation, and detection
- Develop camera and image processing algorithms, from raw sensor data through the imaging pipeline to downstream consumption
- Develop computer vision algorithms for tasks such as detection, classification, segmentation, tracking, and depth and 3D/4D point-cloud processing
- Design, train, and evaluate machine learning and AI models for sensor processing and multi-sensor fusion, and prepare them for deployment on the target platform
- Combine classical signal processing with learned components, and fuse information across sensing modalities
- Prototype, model, and validate algorithms in Python and C
- Analyze large real-world and simulated sensor datasets to characterize algorithm performance and identify failure modes
- Define KPIs and build the validation infrastructure used to measure algorithm performance across releases
- Work with the embedded and silicon teams to ensure algorithms map efficiently onto the target compute platform
- Support bring-up and debug across the algorithm, firmware, and hardware boundary
- Partner with hardware, firmware, and system teams on requirements, architecture, and performance trade-offs
- Document algorithm design, assumptions, and validation results for internal and customer use
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in algorithm development and data analysis in robotics, physical AI, IoT, or multimodal sensor applications
- 5+ years of experience in signal processing, including spectrum analysis, filter design, estimation and detection theory, and optimization
- Experience with radar or LiDAR sensor processing
- Hands-on experience developing computer vision algorithms and applying machine learning to sensor data – clustering, tracking, classification, segmentation, and 3D/4D point-cloud processing
- Experience training and evaluating neural networks, including dataset curation and performance analysis
- Demonstrated experience taking signal processing, computer vision, or ML algorithms from research through to a working product
- Proficiency in Python, with working knowledge of C or C++
- Strong data analysis and performance validation skills
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in parallel and make consistent progress with limited supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Familiarity with image signal processing (ISP) pipelines and tuning
- Familiarity with stereo and multi-camera processing, including calibration, rectification, and depth estimation
- Familiarity with ML and AI toolchains for training and deploying neural networks, such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and with model optimization techniques including quantization and pruning
- Familiarity with the constraints of running algorithms on embedded compute, such as DSP cores, hardware accelerators, or fixed-point arithmetic
- Experience with GPU or parallel programming
- Experience supporting customer integration and bring-up in robotics or industrial programs
Benefits (subject to location and local regulations)
- Competitive salary and equity
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Flexible vacation and time-off policy
- Collaborative, fast-paced, and inclusive work environment
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies with a highly cross-functional team
