Operations. This individual will own the budgeting and forecasting processes for sales allowances and commercial operating expenses, support customer contract negotiations with financial modeling and scenario analysis, and contribute to promotional planning and retail expansion efforts. The role sits within the Corporate FP&A team at our Oakland, CA headquarters and is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with deep CPG experience and strong modeling skills to make a meaningful impact in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary FP&A partner to the Commercial team, including ownership of budgeting, forecasting, and monthly variance analysis for sales allowances (trade spend, co-op, slotting, returns) and commercial operating expenses.

    · Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to support customer contract negotiations, retail expansion initiatives, and promotional activity planning, including pre- and post-event ROI analysis.

    · Collaborate directly with Commercial leadership and budget owners to understand key revenue and trade spend drivers, translating business dynamics into clear financial projections.

    · Provide ad hoc scenario planning and what-if analysis to support strategic decisions related to new customer opportunities, distribution expansion, and promotional investment optimization.

    · Partner with Accounting during month-end close to ensure accurate accruals and proper reflection of commercial activity in the financial statements; deliver timely monthly management reports with clear variance explanations.

    · Identify and implement process improvements across Commercial FP&A workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy as the business continues to scale.

    · Support broader Corporate FP&A initiatives, including consolidated reporting, annual planning cycles, and senior management presentations.

Requirements

    Education & Experience

    • B.A./B.S. from a leading undergraduate institution with an emphasis in Finance, Economics, or Accounting.

    • 5+ years of progressive financial analysis, FP&A, or public accounting experience, with demonstrated growth in scope and complexity.

    • Experience in the CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) or retail industry strongly preferred; direct exposure to trade spend, sales allowances, or commercial finance a significant plus.

    • Advanced Excel skills required, including building, automating, and auditing complex multi-driver financial models from scratch.

    • Demonstrated experience with integrated financial statement modeling (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow linkage) and scenario/sensitivity analysis.

    • Experience with SAP ERP or financial planning software such as Vena a plus.

    Personal Attributes & Capabilities

    • Proven ability to operate and thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment by maintaining focus, strong organization, and disciplined time management.

    • Highly analytical and detail-oriented, with a natural curiosity for understanding the "why" behind financial results and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.

    • Solution-oriented and intellectually proactive — brings ideas forward, challenges assumptions constructively, and gets involved across areas of the business.

    • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition principles and accrual accounting relevant to trade and promotional spend.

    • Excellent communicator — able to present financial analysis clearly and concisely to both finance and non-finance audiences, verbally and in writing.

    • Collaborative team player with strong relationship-building skills; able to earn trust quickly with business partners at all levels of the organization.

    • High integrity, strong work ethic, and an unwavering commitment to accuracy and excellence.
