Opportunity Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to join our Data Platform team and help scale the delivery of clean, high-trust, and reusable data assets across Cohere Health. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of advanced data models, drive the standardization of our semantic layer, and elevate the quality, performance, and usability of data leveraged by analytics, product, and business stakeholders.

You’ll collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and cross-functional partners to translate business logic into scalable models, implement data quality and testing standards, and ensure outputs are well-documented, trusted, and production-ready. You will also mentor Analytics Engineers and contribute to the maturity of our modeling practices and data platform architecture.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data modeling, engineering rigor, and business impact – and who is excited to shape how healthcare data is structured, governed, and used to drive value at scale.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the end-to-end design and implementation of scalable, reusable data models that power enterprise reporting and analytics
  • Lead the development and adoption of semantic layers, trusted metrics, and standardized KPIs across the organization
  • Partner with analysts, product managers, and engineers to translate complex business logic into governed, analysis-ready datasets
  • Define and uphold best practices across data modeling, testing, documentation, version control, and data quality monitoring
  • Promote the use of data lineage, observability, and validation frameworks to build trust and transparency in analytics workflows
  • Collaborate with Architects and Staff Engineers to align on architecture, optimize performance, and improve platform reliability
  • Drive team-wide improvements in tooling, automation, and workflow efficiency
  • Mentor and support other Analytics Engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and skill development
  • Participate in on-call rotations to support critical analytics pipelines and ensure continuity of data availability

What you’ll need:

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles
  • Deep proficiency in Spark, SQL and dbt; strong understanding of data modeling principles (e.g., dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Hands-on experience building analytics workflows using Airflow and AWS Athena
  • Strong understanding of data lakehouse architectures (e.g., S3, Glue, EMR, Iceberg/Parquet formats) and how they support scalable analytics
  • Hands-on experience with version control, CI/CD, and data testing frameworks
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into scalable data solutions
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset; comfortable working across product, analytics, engineering, and business teams
  • Experience with EMR, claims, or healthcare-related data preferred
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow, Looker, Tableau, or similar)
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a STEM, analytics, or related discipline
