About Meeru AI

Meeru AI is building an AI-native platform that transforms how finance and accounting teams operate. We connect to enterprise financial systems — ERPs, CRMs, billing platforms, HRIS — and apply machine learning to turn fragmented operational data into grounded, auditable intelligence for CFOs, controllers, and FP&A leaders.

We deploy on customer terms — SaaS multi-tenant, SaaS single-tenant, and on-premises — across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Our customers are Fortune 500 finance teams who require data isolation, auditability, and compliance.

The Role

We are looking for an Architect / Senior Architect to own the end-to-end technical architecture of our AI-native, multi-cloud-ready, multi-tenant-ready platform. You are the highest technical authority on how the platform is built.

You own the architecture across every layer — from the customer-hosted data foundation, through the core computation and AI services, to the application and review experience — and the contracts that hold them together. You set the standards, make the build-vs-configure calls, and keep the system portable across customers, domains, and clouds.

This is a hands-on architecture role, not an ivory-tower one: you write reference implementations, run design reviews, and sit in tight loop with Product, founders, and customer stakeholders to align architecture with a fast-moving domain.

What makes this role different

You are not architecting generic SaaS. You are designing a system that deploys into enterprise finance environments and produces output that sits next to externally reported financials — which means correctness, traceability, and auditability are first-class architectural requirements, with strong guardrails that keep verifiable results clearly separated from AI-generated suggestions that require human review, plus the data isolation and multi-cloud portability that Fortune 500 finance teams demand.

Requirements

• 10+ years building production backend or data systems. Including significant time at Staff, Principal, or Architect level, where you owned system-level design decisions end to end.

• Multi-tenant, cloud-native platform design. You've architected platforms with strong tenant isolation and security. Ideally, some of them deployed into a customer's own cloud account or data center.

• Deep fluency in at least two of AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. Plus hands-on Kubernetes and Terraform, and a habit of designing for portability rather than lock-in.

• A gift for configuration-driven abstractions. You design systems where onboarding a new customer or business domain is a configuration change, not a code fork.

• Data depth across the stack. Relational and warehouse data modeling, strong SQL, and backend service design.

• Practical ML and LLM fluency. Enough to architect how models and managed LLMs (such as Bedrock, Vertex AI, or Azure OpenAI) plug into a production system safely.

• Instincts for correctness, traceability, and auditability. You treat "where did this number come from?" as an architectural requirement, and you keep verified results clearly separate from AI-generated suggestions.

• Hands-on technical leadership. You write reference implementations, run design reviews, resolve cross-team trade-offs, and mentor senior engineers.

• Close partnership with Product, founders, and customers. You translate business and domain logic into reusable platform components and can hold your own in enterprise architecture and security reviews.

• Hybrid in the San Francisco Bay Area. You'll work in person regularly with the founders and product team.

Nice-to-haves

• Finance, accounting, or fintech background. You understand how financial statements are built and reconciled, and the controls and audit expectations around them.

• Modern data stack experience. dbt or Airflow-style transformation pipelines, and Snowflake or PostgreSQL in production.

• Enterprise compliance experience. You've supported SOC 2 or ISO 27001 audits and customer security reviews.

• Shipping into environments you don't control. You've built platforms that install and upgrade cleanly in customer-managed clouds or on-premises.

What you need to know about the San Francisco Tech Scene

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
