Okta is looking for a Senior Architect to work in our Platform and Ecosystem team, reporting directly to our SVP of Ecosystem. This team builds the Standards, APIs, and Services to enable our customers across our Consumer and Workforce products to manage identity across all of their products and partners, especially with the emerging agentic AI ecosystem. This team is responsible for building the identity layer for this new ecosystem, enabling secure and seamless interactions between humans, applications, and autonomous AI agents.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to Okta’s future technology direction and influence the identity industry as a whole to ensure our partners and customer’s needs are being met by relevant standards. You will be designing and building the APIs and services needed to allow partners and customers of Auth0 and Okta to seamlessly integrate into the Okta ecosystem. Your participation in relevant industry events and standards discussions will ensure that our customer’s interests and use cases are reflected in evolving protocols and standards, and your work with our product and engineering teams will ensure that we’re building industry-grade products and growing our revenue through partners and marketplaces. You will also help advance identity knowledge both within the company and externally, and help uplevel other engineers.  

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive the long-term vision and architecture of our ecosystem across software vendors and partners
  • Champion innovative and scalable solutions across the engineering organization
  • Design and build the APIs, Services, and Infrastructure to allow partners and customers to easily integrate into the Okta Integration Network.
  • Define and architect the standards for how non-human entities, including AI agents and services, establish and manage their identity within the Okta ecosystem.
  • Promote a strong culture of innovation, drive evaluation, development and roll out of new technologies/frameworks. Actively research, brainstorm, prototype, and present ideas.
  • Conduct design and code reviews. Ensure high programming standards and set an example by following best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and influence in other areas of the Engineering (for example, Security, Test Engineering, Operations)
  • Communicate the vision to key stakeholders inside and outside the org.
  • Collaborate with other Architects, QA, Product Owners, Engineering Services, Tech Ops

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Immense passion for best practices and doing the right thing to help Okta's technology stay ahead of its anticipated business growth
  • Prior experience in identity, authentication, authorization, entitlements, or security
  • Extensive experience building large-scale enterprise software or SaaS products for integrating software products together.
  • 12+ years of expansive programming experience in an object-oriented programming language like Java, especially in APIs and integrations.
  • Broad and deep experience with cloud IaaS/PaaS providers and modern stack technologies: Redis, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes and Docker or similar
  • Demonstrably followed best software engineering principles

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent; master's preferred
