LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Senior Associate – City Operations

The Senior Associate, City Operations sits within the City Operations team and reports to the Senior Manager, City Operations. In this role, you will contribute to the integrated planning and delivery of city services for a defined portfolio of LA28 competition and non-competition venues. 

You will support relationship management with municipal partners and assist in coordinating external operations (activities outside of Olympic and Paralympic Venues) across functional areas to contribute to seamless Games-time execution. You will also develop data-driven models to analyze service delivery across municipalities and inform contract requirements necessary for Games-time operations. 

In this role, you will engage in the development of integrated operational plans for a subset of LA28 venues by coordinating inputs across internal teamsYou will assist in coordinating stakeholder planning sessions, tracking and documenting service delivery commitments, and supporting day-to-day partner engagement to help deliver effective Games-time operations for athletes, spectators, and local communities. 

Key Responsibilities:

Stakeholder Coordination & Partner Engagement 

  • Support coordination with municipal partners, including maintaining communication, preparing for working sessions, and tracking key inputs, decisions, and follow-ups
  • Assist in planning and facilitating stakeholder sessions and support the preparation and tracking of business-critical agreements  

Operational Planning & Analysis 

  • Contribute to integrated operational planning by coordinating inputs across internal functional areas and external partners
  • Build and maintain data-driven models to analyze city service requirements, costs, and delivery assumptions, and translate outputs into clear summaries of risks and key considerations  

Cross-Functional Integration & Delivery 

  • Coordinate cross-functional workflows by tracking timelines, dependencies, and deliverables across LA28 teams and municipal partners
  • Prepare briefing materials and support internal alignment and decision-making processes  

Games-Time Readiness & Execution Support 

  • Support readiness efforts, including participation in simulations and planning activities, and assist in development of City Operations staffing approaches and documentation  
Background & Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, required
  • 4+ years of experience in planning and operational roles and/or 2 years in management consulting
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, highly fluid environment and in balancing multiple assignments with competing timelines
  • Fluent working with Office suite products including Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel   
Expectations:
  • Experience supporting development and maintenance of operational plans in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to coordinate across teams and external partners, including public sector stakeholders
  • Clear and professional communicator, with experience preparing concise materials and insights for internal stakeholders
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment, demonstrating ownership, adaptability, and follow-through 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office.
  • The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment.  
  • The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment.  
  • Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods. 
  • Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.  

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000 - $98,000. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
