Hiive is redefining how private companies and their shareholders access liquidity. Through its institutional-grade platform, Hiive brings together buyers, sellers, and issuers to facilitate secondary transactions in venture-backed, pre-IPO companies, introducing efficiency, transparency, and standardization to an otherwise opaque asset class.

Recognized as one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies and backed by leading U.S. investors, Hiive is profitable, well-capitalized, and building a high-performance team to meet growing demand and pursue new market opportunities.

As a Senior Associate, Private Fund Secondaries, you will be an early hire, pioneering secondary trading of LP stakes in private funds on Hiive’s marketplace. This is a high-ownership role where you will build and own the LP and GP relationship pipeline that unlocks fund stake liquidity. You will source deal flow by developing deep relationships with SPV managers, fund administrators, GPs, and LPs, educating counterparties on opportunities, and connecting sellers and buyers through Hiive's industry-leading capital markets network and marketplace.
This is a relationship and origination role, not an operations role. Hiive's institutional-grade brokerage services, marketplace technology, and dedicated fund services team handle transaction matching, execution, documentation, and settlement. Your job is to be the market-facing champion who builds the GP network and drives deal flow. The platform and services infrastructure behind you makes every transaction seamless at scale.

In this role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Build and own a portfolio of GP, LP and SPV manager relationships across the venture-backed, pre-IPO fund ecosystem, with a focus on managers holding positions in the most liquid private companies.

  • Source fund resale deal flow by proactively engaging GPs, fund administrators, and LPs to identify positions where secondary liquidity is available or sought.

  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge of fund structures, transfer mechanics, carried interest and management fee economics, and GP approval workflows.

  • Work closely with partners to develop pipelines and co-brokerage arrangements that drive inbound fund resale volume.

  • Coordinate with Transaction Services on manager diligence and asset verification for ongoing fund resale opportunities.

  • Contribute to the development of GP-facing materials, including pitch collateral and partnership proposals.

  • Track and report on pipeline, conversion, and revenue metrics for the fund secondaries business line.

  • Over time, build and lead a team of fund secondary relationship managers as volume scales and potentially take ownership of the P&L for the fund secondaries team.

Required Skills

  • 3+ years of experience in LP secondary transactions, fund transfers, GP and SPV manager relationship management, or private fund intermediation. Ideal backgrounds include secondary advisory, SPV/fund syndication, secondary fund investing, private fund placement, or fund administration with secondary transfer experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with GPs, SPV managers, fund managers, LPs and other institutional investors.

  • Deep understanding of LP fund transfer mechanics, including for single asset SPVs: GP consent processes, ROFR navigation, membership interest transfers, capital account portability, and subscription document execution.

  • Working knowledge of fund economics: carried interest, management fees (including prepaid structures), waterfall mechanics, and how these affect secondary pricing and transfer negotiation.

  • Strong communicator who can represent Hiive credibly to sophisticated GPs and institutional counterparties.

  • Comfort operating in an early-stage, high-ambiguity environment where you're building the playbook rather than following one.

  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licensed, or able to complete registrations shortly after hiring.

Preferred Skills

  • Direct experience with single-asset SPV transfers (as opposed to diversified fund portfolios). The late-stage venture SPV market has specific dynamics that differ from traditional PE secondaries.

  • Established relationships with GPs, LPs, SPV managers, syndicate leads, and fund administrators in the venture/pre-IPO ecosystem.

  • Experience with co-brokerage arrangements and BD fee sharing under FINRA 2040.

  • Familiarity with fund administration platforms, LP portals, and the operational workflows around capital account statements, K-1s, and subscription documents.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to participate in ownership of a rapidly growing early-stage startup through our employee stock option plan.

  • Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health and dental premiums, and a health spending account.

  • A dedicated desk in our Vancouver, BC HQ, in the heart of downtown, with a fridge stocked with healthy snacks and drinks, an onsite gym and a gorgeous rooftop amenity.

  • Preference to those willing to work in our Vancouver, BC HQ, with a first-class view of the mountains. Open to Canadian or US-based remote candidates.

  • Enjoy a $20 per day commuter benefit for every day you work in our Vancouver HQ.

  • An engaging social calendar, including bi-weekly catered lunches, bi-weekly “Friday bar”, team workouts, annual summer party and holiday party, two “onsite” all-team retreats each year, semi-annual team-building events, and Hiive Womens’ Network events.

  • Significant opportunities for growth into team leadership and management roles.

  • Entrepreneurial culture, and a small and dynamic team.

  • Sponsorship, immigration and relocation for exceptional candidates.

Hiive is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
