The Senior Associate, Social & Culture is a hands-on creative role responsible for bringing Toast’s presence in culture to life on a daily basis. This person operates as both a creator and executor, translating cultural insight into fast, relevant, and high-quality social content. They are equally comfortable concepting, shooting, editing, and directing agency and production partners.
Working closely with the Manager, Social & Culture, this role requires someone who understands how content actually gets made and can step in to move work forward when needed. This is not a coordination role, but one that is deeply embedded in the work and focused on execution, iteration, and creative problem solving. They are also curious about and open to using emerging tools, including AI, to enhance creative development and speed.
A day in the life (Responsibilities):
- Concept, script, and produce social-first content across formats, with a strong emphasis on short-form video and creator-led storytelling
- Identify cultural moments, trends, and operator behaviors and quickly translate them into executable ideas
- Own content end-to-end, from ideation through execution, including shooting, editing, and publishing when needed
- Partner closely with the Manager, Culture to bring creative and cultural direction to life through day-to-day execution
- Contribute to idea development while taking ownership of turning concepts into finished work
- Act as a thought partner in shaping what Toast should and should not participate in culturally
- Provide clear, actionable feedback on concepts, scripts, and edits from agency and production partners
- Push for stronger storytelling, pacing, and platform-native execution across deliverables
- Act as a bridge between strategy and execution, ensuring ideas translate into high-quality content
- Step in to execute or course-correct when timelines slip or output does not meet expectations
- Ensure content is timely, culturally relevant, and creatively strong
- Balance speed with quality, knowing when scrappy execution is the right call
- Use performance signals to refine creative approaches without chasing trends or vanity metrics
- Explore and apply AI tools where helpful to accelerate ideation, production, or iteration
- Collaborate with brand, influencer, comms, and product marketing teams to execute social components of larger initiatives
- Support creator partnerships by shaping briefs, reviewing content, and adapting outputs for social
- Participate in fast-moving, writers room style collaboration and reviews
- Ensure content reflects the realities, humor, and pace of hospitality work
What you'll need to thrive (Requirements):
- 3+ years of experience in social media, content creation, or brand marketing
- Hands-on experience in video production, editing, or content creation (in-house, agency, or creator-side)
- Ability to confidently direct and critique creative work based on real production experience
- Strong understanding of what makes content work on social platforms beyond surface-level trends
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., for ideation, editing, scripting, or workflow optimization) is a plus
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with a high level of ownership and autonomy

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).
