Senior Bookkeeper

Work Schedule

Time Range: Between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM CST
Working Hours: 9 hours per day, including 8 working hours and a 1-hour break
Days Off: TBD, 2 days per week

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper with strong knowledge of QuickBooks or a comparable accounting software platform.

This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, reviewing financial records, coordinating bookkeeping tasks across the team, and serving as a professional point of contact for clients regarding financial matters. The Senior Bookkeeper will help ensure that work is completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with client expectations and internal standards.

This position requires strong bookkeeping expertise, leadership skills, client-facing confidence, professionalism, confidentiality, and excellent attention to detail.



Core Responsibilities
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
  • Record, classify, and maintain accurate general ledgers, journals, and financial transactions

  • Perform monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations

  • Process payroll accurately and according to established schedules

  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity

  • Monitor financial records for accuracy, completeness, and consistency

  • Maintain organized, up-to-date, and audit-ready financial documentation

  • Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and recommend corrections when needed

  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes

Financial Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation

  • Review reports for accuracy before submission to clients or management

  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, client requirements, and applicable regulations

  • Assist with audits, financial reviews, and documentation requests

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and client information

Team Management & Coordination
  • Coordinate daily bookkeeping tasks and ensure deadlines are met

  • Guide and support junior bookkeepers or accounting team members as needed

  • Review bookkeeping work completed by the team for accuracy and quality

  • Help establish consistent processes, workflows, and documentation standards

  • Monitor task progress and follow up with team members to ensure timely completion

  • Provide feedback, clarification, and support to improve team performance

  • Escalate issues or concerns to management when necessary

Client-Facing Responsibilities
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding bookkeeping, billing, payments, reports, and financial documentation

  • Respond to client financial inquiries clearly, professionally, and in a timely manner

  • Present financial information and reports in a clear and client-friendly way

  • Coordinate with clients to collect missing information, clarify transactions, and resolve discrepancies

  • Build trust with clients through accuracy, responsiveness, and professionalism

  • Support client meetings or financial check-ins when needed



Must-Have Requirements

To be considered for the Senior Bookkeeper position, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

  • 5 years or more  of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience

  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or an equivalent accounting software platform

  • Experience handling bank reconciliations, payroll processing, financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance

  • Experience coordinating bookkeeping tasks or reviewing the work of other team members

  • Comfortable communicating directly with clients regarding financial matters

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping

  • Ability to work independently and stay organized in a remote work environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Google Workspace

  • Ability to handle confidential financial information with professionalism and discretion



Good-to-Have Qualifications
  • Experience managing or guiding a small bookkeeping or accounting team

  • Background in client-facing financial reporting or financial advisory support

  • Experience working with international or remote teams

  • Familiarity with multiple accounting platforms or bookkeeping systems

  • Experience creating or improving bookkeeping workflows and internal processes
