About Sift

Sift is the data infrastructure platform for hardware engineering teams. Sift turns high-frequency telemetry into engineering insights for mission-critical systems. Teams use Sift to build and operate rockets, satellites, autonomous vehicles, energy systems, defense platforms, and more.
Founded by former SpaceX engineers who built the tools behind Dragon and Starlink, Sift is building the data infrastructure to herald the AI era for physical systems.

About the Role

We're looking for a Visual Designer to own and evolve Sift's external visual identity across our website, campaigns, sales materials, and product storytelling. You'll translate complex technical concepts into clear, compelling visuals that help engineers and decision-makers understand our platform.

This is a hands-on role with significant creative ownership. You'll work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, and leadership to build a consistent, recognizable brand while executing the day-to-day design work that supports our growth. You'll have agency support for larger projects, but you'll be the primary owner of Sift's visual design.

Our customers build rockets, satellites, autonomous vehicles, and other advanced hardware systems. We're looking for someone who is curious about this world, has exceptional visual craft, and can turn technical complexity into effective visual communication.

Responsibilities:
  • Own the design and execution of Sift's external-facing materials, including website graphics, landing pages, campaigns, social content, presentations, and sales collateral.

  • Translate complex technical products and concepts into clear visual narratives, diagrams, illustrations, and product explainers.

  • Maintain and evolve Sift's visual identity, ensuring consistency and quality across digital, print, and presentation materials.

  • Develop scalable brand systems, templates, and reusable assets that enable the Marketing and Sales teams to move quickly without sacrificing quality.

  • Partner with Product Marketing, Sales, and Product to understand technical capabilities and communicate them effectively to engineering and business audiences.

  • Collaborate with external agencies and contractors on larger creative projects, providing direction and ensuring consistency with Sift's brand.

  • Own projects from initial concept through final production, balancing creative quality, business priorities, and deadlines.

Required Skills:
  • 3+ years of professional experience in visual, brand, or marketing design, with a strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality execution across multiple formats.

  • Experience designing for B2B technology companies, ideally including complex or technical products.

  • Strong visual design fundamentals, including typography, composition, color, layout, and information hierarchy.

  • Ability to translate abstract or technical concepts into clear, engaging visuals and compelling visual narratives.

  • Experience designing across multiple marketing channels, including websites, digital campaigns, presentations, and sales materials.

  • Proficiency in Figma and experience building reusable components, templates, and brand systems.

  • Ability to independently manage design projects from concept through production, with strong attention to detail and consistency.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain creative decisions, incorporate feedback, and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience designing for developer tools, infrastructure software, aerospace, defense, robotics, or other technical industries.

  • Experience creating technical illustrations, product diagrams, data visualizations, or other complex visual explainers.

  • Motion design, animation, or video editing experience.

  • Experience with Webflow, Framer, HTML/CSS, or other web design and development tools.

  • Experience establishing or evolving a brand identity at an early-stage startup.

  • Experience using AI-assisted creative tools to explore concepts, generate assets, or accelerate design workflows.

Portfolio Required: Please include a link to your portfolio or relevant design work. Applications without visual work samples will not be considered.

Location:

Sift’s headquarters is in Marina Del Rey, CA (Next to LAX). We collaborate in person twice a week in our Los Angeles or San Francisco office—on Mondays and Thursdays—and come together for a full week in LA once every quarter. We are open to relocating candidates to work from either office for the right candidate.

Salary range: $125,000 - $190,000 per year. Plus equity and benefits.

Eligibility:

U.S. Person Required: Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident (Green Card Holder), or protected individual such as an asylee or refugee in compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) / EAR (Export Administration Regulations) regulations.
