Job Description:
The Senior Category Specialist position is a highly collaborative role on the Workhuman Ecommerce team that partners on cross-functional initiatives to define and execute catalog, promotional, and supplier partnership strategies.
In this role, you will focus on optimizing a wide assortment of merchandise while building successful long-term relationships with a breadth of suppliers, all backed by a deep understanding of sales trends and business analytics.

- Drive ongoing pricing (permanent and temporary/promotional) negotiations and related partnership programs with suppliers
- Build and manage a pipeline for sourcing brand marketing funds while coordinating cross-functional execution of placements and campaigns
- Partner with promotional merchandising team to drive integrated pricing and marketing opportunities into curated experiences
- Proactively identify and implement supplier and catalog management process improvements in partnership with Merchandising, Operations, and Product teams
- Create, maintain and utilize a range of business reports and analyses to understand trends and drivers, effectively communicating insights among colleagues, team leaders and external partners
The skills you bring
- 4+ years of Retail / ECommerce / Merchandising or Consulting experience
- Demonstrated expertise in pricing strategy and Net Revenue Management (NRM) levers, including trade terms, promo optimization, mix management, and profitability improvement initiatives.
- Strong commercial acumen with advanced capability in pricing negotiations and applying Net Revenue Management (NRM) levers to optimize margin, shape demand, and drive sustainable revenue growth.
- Experience driving ongoing pricing (permanent and promotional) negotiations, leveraging Net Revenue Management (NRM) principles, such as price-pack architecture, promo ROI analysis, and trade terms optimization to enhance profitability and long-term supplier value.
- Proven ability to apply Net Revenue Management (NRM) frameworks across pricing, promotion, mix, and trade investments, using data-driven insights to inform negotiation strategies and maximize commercial outcomes.
- Skilled to an advanced level in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (pivot tables, formulae, data visualization using graphs and charts, etc.)
- Experience working in cloud-based analytics and data visualization tools
- Experience with Ecommerce systems/tools (product information management, supplier/partner management, etc.) a plus
- Excellent project management skills, ability to juggle multiple workstreams with complex interdependencies and tight deadlines
- You are articulate and have persuasive written and verbal communication, with a strong ability to engage with C-suite level contacts and negotiate effectively with key stakeholders.
