About the role

As a Senior Coverage Counsel at Reserv, you will act as a legal advisor and strategist, ensuring that our clients’ coverage related matters are handled in a legally sound, compliant, and efficient manner. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced coverage attorney who is able to work within a busy and fast-paced team environment and who is looking to grow their career.

What we need

We need you to do all the things typical to the role:

  • Provide legal opinions and advice on coverage issues in various P&C claims, including professional liability, general liability, transportation, property and other related matters
  • Review or draft coverage recommendations, reservations of rights, and denial letters for complex claims, and assist with compliance with subpoenas
  • Make referral recommendations to and collaborate with outside coverage counsel to ensure consistent and effective handling of coverage related matters
  • Strategize on processes and procedures for effective, consistent handling of claims in compliance with various state laws and assist with the development and delivery of compliance training programs
  • Conduct legal research for internal business clients and provide clear, concise, accurate, and actionable legal advice
Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing to practice law in the relevant state(s).
  • 5+ years of experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department with significant experience handling insurance litigation and coverage issues
  • Excellent legal research & writing and communication skills; strong familiarity with legal research databases and tools 
  • Solid case evaluation abilities, critical thinking skills, and the ability to translate legal issues into clear and simple advice
  • Able to learn on the job and be comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment where demands and priorities change rapidly
  • Must be detail-oriented with outstanding organizational skills and the proven ability to multi-task while maintaining high-quality and performance
  • Must be results-driven, have a strong sense of urgency, be business-minded, and able to effectively interact with, influence, and collaborate with other members of the organization
