You will lead internal communications, drive awareness of program milestones, support safety messaging, and help make our BuildLACCD Internship & economic development efforts shine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Become deeply familiar with all active bond‐program projects, all nine LACCD colleges, and associated initiatives—and translate technical and project updates into clear, timely, and compelling communications.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for safety department messaging: draft and distribute weekly “Toolbox Talks,” safety alerts, and related content.
  • Collaborate with PMO and College Project Teams (CPTs) to craft and share District news, program updates, compliance‐related information, and project milestones.
  • Develop content and materials for staff meetings, project briefings, dashboards, Board reports, newsletters, news alerts, and project notifications, ensuring consistency, clarity, and alignment.
  • Support creation and delivery of presentations, briefing papers, talking points, and speaking remarks for leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and coordinate the BuildLACCD Internship Program—supporting outreach, program logistics, communication with interns and campuses.
  • Assist the Community Economic Development department in vendor/business outreach—help enhance LACCD’s reputation as “Owner of Choice” in the contracting and vendor community.
  • Review all external materials (brochures, web content, reports, news releases) for accuracy, completeness, brand voice, and consistency.
  • Provide support as needed to the Communications Director in gathering or responding to bond‐program content or information requests.

RequirementsWhat We’re Looking ForMinimum Qualifications
  • 6-10 years of experience designing and executing communications strategies for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated strength writing clearly and concisely—across newsletters, alerts, reports, presentations, etc.
  • Experience organizing and leading large meetings: arranging speakers, developing support materials, managing logistics.
  • Proficiency with communication tools/software, and basic design tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalents) to develop, format, and disseminate content.
  • Ability to craft communication strategies that build internal culture and improve transparency and flow of information within a large bond or capital‐projects program.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: able to communicate professionally, sensitively, and diplomatically with internal stakeholders (staff, leadership, colleges) and external audiences (students, community, vendors).
  • Capable of performing under pressure, managing competing deadlines, and adhering to District policies and protocols.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Sociology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs (e.g. materials, equipment, etc.).
Preferred
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Sociology, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Prior experience working in higher education or District/government settings.
