About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Control System Architect to design, develop, integrate, and enhance applications and features related to Electric Utility Outage Management Systems (OMS). The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of Oracle DBA expertise, software development experience, and a solid background working with utility systems, especially OMS.

The selected architect will operate remotely but is expected to attend occasional onsite meetings at the client location in Binghamton, NY when required.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, architecture, and integration of new features and applications for the Electric Utility Outage Management System (OMS).

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand business and technical requirements.

  • Oversee end-to-end system improvements, performance optimization, and stability enhancements.

  • Develop, document, and maintain system architecture, workflows, technical designs, and integration specifications.

  • Provide expertise in database design, optimization, backup strategies, performance tuning, and troubleshooting using Oracle DBA skills.

  • Work closely with development teams using various software frameworks to ensure high-quality design and implementation.

  • Ensure system compliance with industry standards, cybersecurity guidelines, and best practices.

  • Participate in critical meetings, reviews, and workshops at client locations as needed.


Required Skills & Experience
Top Mandatory Skills
  1. Oracle DBA (Expert Level)

  2. OMS (Outage Management System) experience OR prior work experience with an electric utilities company

Technical Qualifications
  • 8+ years of professional experience in application design, systems integration, or software architecture.

  • Strong background in database administration with hands-on Oracle experience (backup, recovery, performance tuning, SQL queries, triggers, stored procedures).

  • Demonstrated experience in OMS platforms used in electric utilities (e.g., Oracle Utilities, GE PowerOn, Milsoft, or similar).

  • Solid programming and scripting background in languages such as Java, .NET, Python, or similar frameworks.

  • Experience designing scalable, high-availability systems.

  • Knowledge of enterprise integration patterns, APIs, middleware, and SOA.

  • Exposure to DevOps practices, CI/CD, version control (Git), and automation tools is a plus.

Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience working with utility distribution systems, SCADA, ADMS, or related operational systems.

  • Experience delivering long-term multi-year projects in a consultative or architecture role.

  • Familiarity with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or OCI).

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Willingness to travel onsite occasionally for key meetings and events.


Additional Details
  • Remote role with required periodic travel to Binghamton, NY.

  • 3-year long-term contract.
