At AKQA we believe in the imaginative application of art and science to create beautiful ideas, products and services. With an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach, we design adaptive digital services and applications that capture the imagination, delivering impressive returns for our clients.

Copywriters at AKQA are brand voice architects who live and breathe modern culture and platforms. To us, words are more than lines of text; they are the sparks that shape identity, fuel connection and move audiences to act. In this role, the Senior Copywriter – Social & Brand Voice (Fashion) will own, define and drive a leading global fashion brand’s tone of voice across social platforms, with a specific focus on TikTok. You will craft platform-native concepts and short-form copy (captions, scripts, hooks), translate strategy into culturally relevant ideas, and set clear voice guidelines that flex across TikTok, Instagram and emerging platforms. You will be the go-to voice authority for both the client and our internal team, partnering closely with social strategists, designers, editors, producers and creators.

This role is based in San Francisco, as the work is deeply rooted in on-site content creation and close, real-time collaboration with the client and local production partners. Regular access to production spaces near the client’s headquarters, in-person shoots, and day-to-day creative collaboration are central to how this work comes to life. Being physically present enables faster iteration, stronger relationships, and more culturally responsive content than a remote setup would allow.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Exceptional short-form copywriting craft for social: headlines, hooks, captions and TikTok-native scripts
  • Proven experience shaping or leading a brand voice / tone of voice across social platforms
  • Platform fluency: deep understanding of how voice and format shift across TikTok, Instagram and emerging channels
  • Strong conceptual thinking: able to originate platform-first ideas, not just execute assignments
  • Experience collaborating with creators/influencers, including on-set direction
  • Ability to step in front of the camera to create content, even if just to prototype an idea
  • Content creation skills a strong plus: self-shooting, TikTok-style editing, prototyping rough cuts and VO reads
  • Ability to iterate based on performance insights and feedback
  • Cultural awareness and relevance within fashion, lifestyle and youth culture spaces
  • Ability to translate brand and social strategy into culturally relevant copy and concepts
  • Experience working cross-functionally with social strategists, designers, motion editors, producers and community teams
  • Ability to quickly prototype ideas and iterate based on performance insights and feedback
  • Strong presentation skills: can clearly articulate voice systems, rationale and ideas to clients and internal leadership
  • Knowledge of contemporary advertising, communications and social marketing practices, including platform governance
  • Takes responsibility for on-time deliverables and maintains high craft standards in fast-paced environments

QUALITIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

  • You live and breathe social; native understanding of TikTok vernacular, trends and pacing
  • You can flex voice confidently across platforms without breaking the brand
  • You bring platform-first concepts to the table and elevate team copy standards
  • You move fast without sacrificing craft and are comfortable owning projects with self-sufficiency
  • You have an instinct for cultural relevance and the nuances of fashion and youth culture
  • You have extreme attention to detail, editorial rigor and a strong sense of structure
  • You’re collaborative, proactive and comfortable partnering directly with clients and creators
  • You’re energized by ambiguity and driven to test, learn and iterate
