The Senior Counsel will co-own outcomes with business stakeholders across the company and balance legal and reputational risk with high-acceleration growth. This position reports directly to the Chief Legal Officer.

As Senior Counsel, you will be a hands-on and solutions-oriented member of the Legal team and will support the company in its mission to build a safer internet. You will be asked to own and operationalize corporate compliance programs, including governance, ethics and compliance, and workforce policies and processes, and serve as a data-driven, strategic partner in aligning legal guidance to business objectives.

At HackerOne, we embrace a Flexible Work approach that gives us the freedom to do our best work while also fostering the connections and community that make us stronger. Reflecting this philosophy, this is a remote role targeted for candidates within ~50 miles of Seattle, WA; San Francisco, CA; Austin, TX; Boston, MA, Washington, DC or London, UK. We believe this balance of proximity and flexibility gives Hackeronies the chance to occasionally come together – fostering collaboration, connection, and in-person moments that enrich our culture – while still preserving the benefits of remote work.

  • Coordinate with Commercial, Product, and Revenue team members to advise on platform and marketplace legal risk, while balancing business objectives.

  • Manage dispute resolution, legal process, and litigation, including legal holds, investigations, e-discovery, and subpoenas and law enforcement or regulatory investigations.

  • Provide counsel on regulatory and compliance issues related to HackerOne’s platform, customers, and workforce, including conflicts of interest, third-party due diligence, Terms of Service, audits, and other areas, as needed.

  • Act as an AI-forward legal partner by identifying opportunities to use AI to improve legal research, risk identification, workflow efficiency, knowledge management, and business resiliency while applying sound judgment regarding confidentiality, accuracy, bias, transparency, and human oversight.
