Clyde & Co is seeking a Senior Counsel in California with 10+ years of experience in insurance defense. We are looking for a bright litigator and excellent writer who is highly motivated and proactive with their caseload. We need someone who will be able to act independently throughout the discovery process, assisting in trial, and maintaining a strong interest in those matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of 10-20 matters

  • Actively investigate claims and prepare case handling strategies

  • Draft and respond to discovery

  • Review and analyze documents for production

  • Conduct legal research using Westlaw

  • Take and defend depositions

  • Draft and submit pleadings and motion

  • Attend hearings and argue motions

  • Draft pre-trial and trial documents

  • Prepare cases for mediation/trial, and participate in mediation/trial

  • Actively and effectively report to our clients

  • Manage and supervise associates and paralegals

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Admission to the bar in California

  • Extensive experience in all aspects of litigation

  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills

  • Effective oral advocate

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly

The salary range for this position is $230,000-$250,000. The range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
