Team Overview

The Data Performance team is part of Data Asset Management within Global Operations and is responsible for improving the quality, performance, and value of TransUnion’s data assets. The team monitors data quality throughout the data lifecycle, identifies insights that support informed decision-making, and partners across the organization to ensure TransUnion’s data continues to meet evolving customer and business needs. This position reports into a Manager for Data Analysis. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Role Overview and Core Responsibilities

  • Develop deep expertise in TransUnion’s credit and alternative data assets and provide subject matter expertise across business and data initiatives.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable insights that support business and customer outcomes.
  • Translate technical findings and analytical results into clear recommendations, practical solutions, and measurable business value.
  • Lead data quality investigations, identify root causes, and implement enhancements that improve data performance and customer outcomes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain data quality measures, reporting, and dashboards for operational and executive stakeholders.
  • Partner with business and technology teams to support Business Acceptance Testing (BAT) for major data events, platform changes, and product enhancements.
  • Develop prototypes, analyses, and data-driven solutions that support innovation, product development, and new market opportunities.
  • Independently lead projects from initial concept through implementation while balancing strategic objectives, competing priorities, and executional details.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Mentor team members by sharing knowledge, coaching analytical approaches, and promoting consistent data and analytical best practices.

Required Knowledge and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience that provides the analytical and business knowledge needed for the role.
  • 7+ years of experience in data analysis, data management, data quality, business intelligence, or a related discipline, including experience using data to address complex business needs.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities, with demonstrated success moving from data investigation and root-cause analysis to practical business recommendations.
  • Experience translating complex technical findings into clear, concise insights for business stakeholders and senior leaders to support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead initiatives, manage multiple priorities, learn new business domains and data assets quickly, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Required Technical Skills
  • Advanced SQL (Structured Query Language) skills, including experience querying, investigating, and analyzing large, complex datasets.
  • Experience developing data quality measures, analytical reporting, or dashboards that communicate performance, trends, and business impact.
  • Experience applying data analysis techniques to identify trends, risks, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to use analytical tools and data environments to transform raw data into actionable insights and solutions.

  • Knowledge of financial services, credit risk, consumer credit, or another data-driven industry.
  • Experience using Linux command-line tools.
  • Experience with Python, R, Tableau, Apache Superset, or similar analytical and data visualization tools.
  • Experience working with large-scale data technologies such as Google BigQuery, Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Hive, or comparable platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR).

Pay Scale Information:

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $82,700.00 - $120,000.00 annually. *The salary range for this position reflects a reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this job. At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, location, and industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position and market considerations. Regular, fulltime non-sales positions may be eligible to participate in TransUnion’s annual bonus plan. Certain positions may be also eligible for long-term incentives and other payments based on applicable company guidance and plan documents.
