Job Description:

SQL Server Skills SQL2K through SQL2025

- Install, configure, manage, monitor, troubleshoot and tune production, support and develop databases

- Help to define SQL Server architecture and implement environments

- Ensure high availability in the production systems through multiple methods

- Ensure outstanding performance in all systems

- Troubleshoot SQL Server issues as they occur

- Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the business's Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

- Test backups to ensure Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) can be met

- Understand and manage SQL Server capacity usage and growth planning

- Configure database monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms and ensure up-time

- Implement high availability technology including AlwaysOn, replication and clustering

- Design indexes and review query execution plans for optimal performance and operations

- Work with profiling and tracing tools to optimize the databases as necessary

- Define, implement and document industry best practices

Windows Server Skills

- Detail provisioning, installation, and maintenance of systems running Server 2003, 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2, Server 2016 and Server 2019.

- Review preventive maintenance on the operating systems as well as assist repair of system/environment problems.

- Document tasks, procedures, environments for setting up and maintaining systems.

- Analyze system faults and troubleshoot and run diagnostic tests on operating systems and hardware to detect problems.

- Solid understanding of best practices and ability to implement.

- Work collaboratively with other staff.

- Manage setup and provisioning of storage resources.

Requirements/Qualifications:

7.5 -10 Years of experience and knowledge of:

- Proficiency with tuning SQL databases for performance, reliability, and availability

- Experience in Monitoring SQL Server databases through agent jobs, scripts and tools

- Experience with capacity planning

Minimum of 3 years of experience of relevant IT Server support:

- Assist with deployment, configure, and support Windows Server systems.

- Ability to troubleshoot standard Windows processes and tools.

- Performance tuning and system optimization.

- Experience with Windows utilities.

- Understanding of/experience with local/wide area networking concepts/protocols.

- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Experience in mission-critical operations, ideally within a 24x7 large scale distributed and clustered environment.

- Interact with vendors in the resolution of complex problems.

- Effectively communicate with customers, help desk support personnel and senior engineers.

Desired:

Experience with VMware and/or other virtualization technologies is a big plus.

Excellent technical documentation skills.

Experience in the semiconductor industry is an additional asset.

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in the US, is $70,304 - $163,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
