Position Description

The DBA / Data Modeler / Data Engineer is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing all data activities supporting the FSA IAM systems. This role ensures secure, accurate, and efficient data handling during the transition from the legacy AIMS and PAS systems to the new modern IAM solution and throughout ongoing operations.

Responsibilities

The DBA / Data Modeler / Data Engineer develops a comprehensive data transition plan to move existing AIMS and PAS data and legacy functionality into the new cloud-centric architecture. They create and maintain detailed file layouts, source-to-target mappings, conceptual, logical, and physical data models, and data dictionaries for all intersystem connections, loads, and extracts. The role includes designing and enhancing automated internal data sharing processes to support analytics for user accounts and potential fraud detection. Additional responsibilities involve supporting network management tasks related to data flows, capturing true user IP addresses for each action, implementing network edge protection, enabling analytic tagging and dynamic error messaging, maintaining application-specific information (ASI) documentation, and supporting AIMS token management data processes. They also contribute to environment support through database configurations, performance tuning, monitoring, backups, and capacity management to ensure the IAM systems operate efficiently and reliably. The position ensures proper handling and encryption of key user data.

Required Qualifications

- Strong expertise in database administration, data modeling, and data engineering
- Experience creating detailed data models, mappings, and dictionaries
- Proficiency with data migration and transition planning in complex systems
- Knowledge of secure data handling, encryption, and PII protection
- Skills in performance tuning, monitoring, and capacity management for databases
- Ability to design and implement automated data sharing and integration processes
- Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills
- Problem-solving abilities for troubleshooting data and database issues
- Collaboration skills to work effectively with development, security, and operations teams
- Familiarity with federal IT data standards and compliance requirements is preferred

Salary Range

$121k-$168K

The pay range for this job is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) job responsibilities, education, certifications, experience, as well as internal equity mapping and alignment with market data, or other applicable laws.
