About Us

Dyson is a global technology company that sets out to solve the problems others ignore. We create machines that are different, better and more useful through inventive engineering, rigorous testing and a commitment to exploring new possibilities.

We are developing confidential new product categories and are looking for a Senior Design Engineer to help shape what comes next. This is an opportunity to work on exciting technical challenges, contribute fresh perspectives, and turn innovative ideas into products that can be developed, tested and trusted.

At Dyson, we believe that diverse experiences, perspectives and ways of thinking help us create better products for our users. We encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute.

About the Role

As a Senior Design Engineer in the Singapore Design Engineering team, you will contribute to the development of a new product category from its earliest concepts through to production. You will help design complex mechanical assemblies and product systems that deliver exceptional performance, reliability, quality and user experience.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, researchers, manufacturing specialists, operations teams, quality teams and external development partners to bring ideas from concept through prototyping, testing and into production. The role offers opportunities to apply technical expertise, collaborate across functions, and use evidence-based decision making to solve engineering challenges.

You will also collaborate with our global engineering teams to develop assembly-level designs and manufacturing solutions. Working alongside category experts and support teams, you will help define design requirements and evaluate potential solutions.

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team culture, supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and helping the team deliver outstanding engineering outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of complex product assemblies and sub-systems from concept through production, ensuring they meet requirements for performance, safety, reliability, quality, cost and timing.

  • Translate complex or evolving challenges into clear design requirements, specifications and interfaces for interconnected systems and assemblies.

  • Create, evaluate and refine design concepts through analysis, prototyping, testing and data-informed decision making.

  • Identify technical risks early and work collaboratively with teams to develop effective mitigation plans.

  • Build and learn from functional prototypes, using insights from testing to enhance performance, robustness and user experience.

  • Partner with manufacturing, operations and supplier teams to develop designs that are scalable and ready for production.

  • Develop and review 3D CAD, 2D drawings, tolerance analyses and engineering documentation to support development, validation and manufacturing release.

  • Contribute to design and technical reviews, communicating engineering concepts clearly and supporting evidence-based decisions.

  • Coach and support engineers and graduates by sharing knowledge, fostering learning and encouraging professional growth.

About You

We recognise that candidates may not meet every requirement listed below. If you are excited about the opportunity and believe your experience could add value, we encourage you to apply.

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.

  • 4+ years of experience in product design and development, with a demonstrated ability to solve technical challenges and deliver engineering solutions.

  • Mechanical design experience involving plastics, rubber, metals or other engineered materials, with knowledge of DFM, DFA, GD&T and tolerance analysis.

  • Familiarity with 3D CAD, engineering drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis and design documentation.

  • Experience defining and managing requirements, specifications, interfaces and design trade-offs throughout product development.

  • Comfortable navigating evolving requirements and contributing to complex engineering challenges.

  • Hands-on approach to product development, using prototyping, testing and iteration to improve product performance and reliability.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance user needs, performance, manufacturability, cost, reliability and safety considerations.

  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and how mechanical design interacts with electronics, software, sensing, thermal, acoustic or fluid systems.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to share ideas and technical recommendations with a range of stakeholders.

  • Collaborative and proactive mindset, with the ability to build positive working relationships across functions.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, supplier development, industrial measurement methods and design validation would be beneficial.

  • Curiosity, a continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for developing products that improve users' lives.

Dyson is an equal opportunity employer. We know that great minds don’t think alike, and it takes all kinds of minds to make our technology so unique. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and employment decisions are made without regard to race, colour, religion, national or ethnic origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, protected veteran status or other any other dimension of diversity.
