SAi, the leading provider of Design & RIP software for the sign and print industry, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Senior DevOps/ DevEx Engineer to join our team. If you are passionate about improving how software is built, tested, and delivered, and enjoy solving complex engineering and automation challenges, we'd love to hear from you! This is a USA based job.
What You’ll Do
Join a newly established Platform team as our first DevOps and Developer Experience Engineer. You will own the end-to-end software delivery path for both cloud and desktop products, driving improvements in CI/CD, release management, automation, and developer workflows. While the Platform Lead manages AWS infrastructure, networking, and Terraform-based platform services, you will work alongside them to ensure secure, reliable, and efficient delivery of applications to production and customers.
· Own CI/CD. Design, implement and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines that build, test, scan and deploy cloud services as Docker images to AWS. Ensure deployments, promotions and rollbacks are streamlined, reliable and accessible for the entire engineering team.
· Support cloud and desktop application delivery. Manage build and release pipelines across both cloud-based services and desktop applications, partnering closely with development teams to deliver consistent and efficient release processes.
· Drive reliable, low-risk software delivery. Continuously improve release quality through automated validation, staging gates, and deployment safeguards while monitoring key delivery metrics, including deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, and mean time to restore.
· Build environments developers can trust. Build and maintain fast, repeatable development experiences, production-aligned sandbox environments and short-lived preview environments that increase confidence and accelerate delivery
· Shorten the feedback loop. Work on test-suite runtime, flaky tests, parallel runs and test data, and run linting, static analysis, dependency scanning and secret scanning on every pull request.
· Strengthen pipeline security and access controls. Implement secure CI/CD practices using OIDC integrations, centralized secret management, and least-privilege access models across development and deployment workflows.
· Enable rapid service onboarding. Develop reusable templates and automation frameworks that provide new services with CI/CD, monitoring, observability, and security standards from day one.
· Establish governance for AI-assisted development. Define standards, controls, and operational guardrails for AI coding tools, including repository, pipeline, and environment access policies.
· Enhance observability and operational insight. Implement meaningful monitoring, deploy tracking, actionable alerting, and service dashboards to improve system reliability and operational awareness using New Relic.
· Promote documentation and operational readiness. Maintain comprehensive runbooks, onboarding materials, and process documentation to ensure critical knowledge is shared, current, and scalable across the organization.
What you'll work with
· A large Ruby on Rails application on MongoDB, deployed as Docker images to AWS Elastic Beanstalk, with Rails upgrades ahead
· AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and CloudFront
· Desktop apps and their build pipelines
· GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps
· Terraform (we're moving our infrastructure to it from CloudFormation and CDK)
· Several AWS accounts under IAM Identity Center
· New Relic
Who You Are
· 5+ years in DevOps, platform, SRE or build-and-release engineering, including owning CI/CD for a production web application
· Real depth in GitHub Actions or a comparable system: reusable workflows, caching, matrix builds, environments and approvals
· Solid AWS fundamentals: IAM, OIDC federation, containers, and at least one of Elastic Beanstalk, ECS or Lambda
· Hands-on infrastructure as code, Terraform preferred
· Fluency in Bash plus one of Ruby, TypeScript, or Go, and the comfort to read application code when a build fails
· Comfort on both Linux and Windows build machines
· A security-first mindset: by applying least-privilege access principles, maintaining strong secrets management practices, and embedding automated security scanning
· Operate with a high degree of ownership and autonomy: partnering with the team to prioritize work, make informed decisions, and clearly communicate technical trade-offs and recommendations through written documentation.
Preferred Experience
· Shipping server changes for clients you cannot force to upgrade, such as desktop or mobile apps, devices or partner integrations
· Desktop build and release: Windows builds, installers, code signing, Azure DevOps
· Experience with Rails applications (test suites, asset builds, Bundler)
· MongoDB or MongoDB Atlas in production
· Measuring developer experience (DORA, SPACE) and acting on the results
· Setting policy for AI coding tools and agents
· Working in a team spread across time zones (we span the US, Europe, and Asia)
Benefits
· Competitive salary
· Health, dental, and vision insurance
· 401(k) retirement plan
· Flexible work hours and remote work options
· Friendly and collaborative work environment
