As a Senior Digital Strategist & Account Director, you'll manage client relationships, provide strategic digital guidance, and lead multidisciplinary teams to create actionable digital strategies for mission-driven organizations.
The summary above was generated by AI

As an Account Director & Digital Strategist at Interactive Strategies, you’ll shape the digital direction for mission-driven organizations that are making a true impact in the world. You’ll join a team partnering with some of the largest and most influential nonprofits and associations in the country — organizations advancing health, serving veterans, protecting wildlife, and preserving our planet.

In this role, your client relationships are the foundation everything else is built on. You’ll earn trust at the senior level, guide organizations through complex digital decisions, and bring the kind of strategic clarity that turns ambiguity into momentum. You’ll sell ideas — not products — and the strength of your thinking and your relationships will be what moves clients forward.

Day to day, you’ll take complex challenges and turn them into clear, actionable strategies. You’ll guide clients toward research-driven decisions and serve as a trusted digital advisor to senior stakeholders — all while directing multidisciplinary teams from discovery through delivery. If building lasting client relationships, communicating ideas with conviction, and helping people see possibility excites you, we’d love to meet you.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In your first year, you’ll step into an active portfolio of client relationships and start making them your own: deepening trust, elevating the strategic conversation, and identifying new ways to move clients forward. Over time, you’ll help shape what account leadership looks like at IS — building the kind of long-term partnerships that become the backbone of our growth.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Leadership & Client Relationships

  • Own a portfolio of client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and strategic advisor for senior stakeholders.
  • Build deep, lasting trust with clients by understanding their goals, pressures, and organizational dynamics — and showing up as a consistent, reliable partner.
  • Serve as a trusted digital advisor to senior stakeholders, balancing big picture vision with practical, results-driven recommendations.
  • Guide clients toward confident decision-making, especially when the path forward is unclear or complex.
  • Act as both a visual and verbal storyteller — communicating insights with clarity, empathy, and strategic depth.
  • Contribute to new business efforts by leading pitch narratives, proposals, and strategic frameworks, and by building chemistry with prospective clients in presentations.

Digital Strategy & Experience

  • Translate research — both your own and research provided by cross-disciplinary teams — into clear, actionable strategic deliverables, including digital strategy recommendations, roadmaps, personas, user journeys, value propositions, information architecture, and user experience direction.
  • Direct discovery activities — including stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, and opportunity assessments — and partner with researchers and strategists to ensure findings translate into clear strategic direction.
  • Define strategies for websites, digital products, and experiences that align customer needs with business goals and technology capabilities.
  • Develop high-impact presentations and strategic deliverables that inspire clients and equip cross-functional teams with clear direction.

Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Partner closely with designers, creatives, technologists, content strategists, and analysts to shape cohesive, integrated digital strategies.
  • Lead teams through ambiguity by establishing direction, clarifying decisions, and maintaining momentum even when details continue to evolve.
  • Stay ahead of emerging trends — especially in AI, digital transformation, and experience strategy — while bringing forward insights that elevate our work.

Requirements

Experience & Expertise

  • 7–10+ years of experience in digital strategy, client services, account management, consulting, or a related field; digital agency experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain senior client relationships in a services or consulting environment.
  • Strong understanding of websites, UX design, IA, and product strategy.
  • Familiarity with AI and emerging tools and the ability to speak credibly about their role in digital strategy.
  • Outstanding strategic thinking with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional storytelling, presentation, and communication abilities (visual and verbal).
  • Ability to synthesize research and insights into actionable strategic direction.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.

Mindset & Approach

This matters to us as much as your resume.

  • Relationship-driven — you invest in people, not just projects.
  • Naturally curious and energized by figuring things out.
  • Collaborative and human-centered in your approach to solving problems.
  • Confident under pressure and skilled at bringing teams together.
  • Grounded, values-driven, and able to build trust quickly.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Experience developing brand positioning, value propositions, or messaging frameworks.
  • Experience facilitating workshops for brand, messaging, or creative development.
  • Experience managing or mentoring junior strategists or account team members.
