Position Overview

The Senior Director, Brand Strategy plays a critical role in shaping and delivering insight-driven brand strategy across client engagements. This individual is responsible for leading strategic workstreams, developing high-quality strategic outputs, and partnering closely with cross-functional teams to translate complex data into clear, actionable direction.

This role requires a balance of analytical rigor and creative thinking, with the ability to uncover meaningful insights, define strategic opportunities, and guide teams in developing compelling brand narratives. The Senior Director serves as a key strategic partner to internal teams and clients, contributing to both ongoing business and new business efforts, while also supporting the growth and development of junior team members.

What You’ll Do

Lead Strategic Development

  • Conduct and synthesize market, customer, and competitive analyses to inform brand strategy
  • Identify key questions, challenges, and opportunities that shape brand and business direction
  • Develop clear points of view on brand positioning, category dynamics, and growth opportunities

Translate Insight into Strategy

  • Uncover and articulate customer and market insights that drive decision-making
  • Develop strategic frameworks and brand positioning grounded in data and insight
  • Create clear, compelling creative briefs that inspire cross-functional teams

Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Creative, Account, Medical Strategy, and Engagement teams to ensure strategy is effectively translated into execution
  • Serve as a strategic resource and advisor across internal teams during development of communications and campaign work
  • Ensure alignment between strategic intent and execution across channels and touchpoints

Client Partnership and Business Growth

  • Contribute to strategic planning and execution across client engagements
  • Support and participate in client presentations, workshops, and key meetings
  • Contribute to new business efforts, including pitch development and strategic storytelling

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor and guide junior strategists, supporting their growth and development
  • Provide feedback and direction to elevate the quality of strategic thinking and outputs
  • Contribute to building a strong, collaborative, and insight-driven strategy discipline

Who You Are

  • A strategic thinker with the ability to integrate data, insights, and creativity into clear direction
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to distill complex information into actionable insights
  • An effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with experience presenting to internal teams and clients
  • Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to work across disciplines and levels
  • Proactive and adaptable, with a problem-solving mindset and a willingness to take on new challenges
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and a growing ability to guide strategic decision-making

What You Bring

  • 6–8+ years of experience in brand strategy and planning within an advertising agency environment, with 2+ years working in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or life sciences category
  • Experience developing brand positioning, strategic frameworks, and insight-driven communications
  • Strong understanding of market research, competitive analysis, and customer insight development
  • Proven ability to contribute to client engagements and new business initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor or manage junior team members

Salary Range: $170,000-$190,000

BGB Group is headquartered in New York City, and the salary range listed reflects the expected base compensation for this role in the New York City metropolitan area. This position may be performed remotely within the United States. For candidates located outside the New York City area, compensation will be adjusted to reflect the applicable market for the employee’s primary work location. Final compensation will be determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
