Position Overview

The Senior Director Competitive Intelligence & Strategy will serve as strategic operating partner to the CFO LillyDirect and the broader LillyDirect leadership team, providing competitive insight, evaluating partnership opportunities across the healthcare ecosystem and providing recommendations to shape LillyDirect’s growth strategy. This role will report to the CFO of LillyDirect.

Key Responsibilities

Competitive Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends in digital health, direct-to-consumer healthcare, and health-tech business models to identify opportunities and risks

  • Translate competitive insights into strategic recommendations to LillyDirect leadership team on the implications of competitors' activities and recommend proactive strategies.

  • Engage with external industry peer groups and organizations to benchmark best practices for consumer digital health activities and make recommendations to LillyDirect leadership team for best practices implementation.

  • Champion efforts to challenge the status quo and drive solutions that help LillyDirect reach its goals

Market Monitoring

  • Work with marketing and market research teams to synthesize insights on current and potential customers

  • Monitor industry trends and other relevant developments in the direct to patient and consumer digital health industries.

Strategy

  • Contribute to the execution of LillyDirect’s overall business strategy, including market expansion and new service offerings.

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and operating partner to the LillyDirect leadership team providing strategic perspective on business decisions.

  • Lead the annual Strategic Plan exercise for LillyDirect

Partnership Business development opportunities

  • Evaluate partnerships across the healthcare ecosystem, including pharmacy partners, telehealth platforms, health systems, payers, and technology providers.

  • Evaluate potential acquisitions that can enhance the speed, capabilities and geographic reach of LillyDirect.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years of experience evaluating external market dynamics — such as industry trends or business landscape analysis — gained through strategy consulting, competitive intelligence, corporate strategy, or a comparable external-facing role.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior Experiences

  • MBA or equivalent advanced degree

  • Competitive intelligence and/or strategy experience within an ecommerce, healthcare technology company, digital health platform, or health-tech startup/scale-up.

  • Experience with direct-to-consumer or direct-to-patient business models, including e-commerce, subscription, or marketplace economics.

  • Candidates with experience spanning both health-tech and pharma environments are especially valued.

  • Innovation & Agility - demonstrate a growth mindset; builds systems and processes designed for scale while remaining flexible enough to adapt to a fast-moving health-tech environment.

Additional Information

  • Travel Requirement: Up to 10%, primarily domestic travel depending on business need

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$181,500 - $266,200

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
