As a Senior Director of Data Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Commercial and Investment Bank Operations, you lead multiple aspects of data management, manage the activities of multiple departments, and collaborate across technical domains. Your expertise is applied cross-functionally to drive the adoption and implementation of technical methods within various teams and aid the firm in remaining at the forefront of industry trends, best practices, and technological advances.

Job Responsibilities (you can have up to 11 bullet points here)

  • Sets the direction of Data management in different sub domains of financial services business
  • Provides leadership and high-level direction to teams while frequently overseeing employee populations across multiple platforms, divisions, and lines of business and influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Sets reuse-first expectations for enterprise-authorized AI adoption within the work environment across data engineering domains to accelerate delivery and improve decision quality, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data
  • Acts as the primary interface with senior leaders, stakeholders, and executives, driving consensus across competing objectives and managing multiple stakeholders, complex projects, and large cross-product collaborations
  • Establishes cross-team governance standards for AI-assisted workflows used in data engineering decisioning and delivery, ensuring traceability/auditability and alignment to resiliency and security expectations

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills 

  • 10+ years of applied experience in managing large scale, critical and complex distributed data management systems 
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
  • Experience developing and/or leading large and/or cross-functional teams of technologists and demonstrated prior experience influencing across highly matrixed, complex organizations and delivering value at scale
  • Demonstrated experience leading safe adoption of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment across multiple data engineering teams, including validation practices and awareness of data sensitivity
  • Ability to define review/approval and escalation expectations for AI-assisted recommendations aligned to resiliency, security, and auditability outcomes
  • Experience leading complex projects supporting system design, testing and operational stability
  • Experience hiring, developing, and recognizing talent

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Master’s in Software Engineering, Data Management or Business Administration
  • Strong data management foundations including experience managing complex data models, data catalogs, ontology and taxonomy frameworks
  • Proficiency with the modern data stack: SQL and at least one general-purpose language
  • Multi-layer data processing: understanding of data movement, data quality management and storage formats
  • Strong Data Audit & observability mindset including automated audits, monitoring/alerting and lineage
