Senior Director, Global Deal Desk & Commercial Strategy

Overview

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Senior Director, Global Deal Desk & Commercial Strategy is a highly strategic and visible leadership role responsible for leading Alteryx’s global Deal Desk/ Strategy function and overseeing the governance, scalability, and operational excellence of the company’s quote-to-order lifecycle.

This leader will own the global commercial deal governance framework, partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Legal, Finance, Revenue Accounting, Product, and Business Operations to structure complex enterprise transactions that balance customer needs, business objectives, operational scalability, and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policies.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in enterprise SaaS deal structuring, revenue recognition implications, and commercial operations, along with a proven ability to build and lead high-performing global teams. This individual will lead and develop a distributed organization, including people leaders and regional Deal Desk teams, while driving strategic transformation initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce friction in the sales cycle, and enable scalable growth worldwide.

This role requires a strong executive presence, exceptional cross-functional influence, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while balancing operational rigor with commercial agility.

Responsibilities

Global Deal Desk Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the global Deal Desk organization and overall quote-to-order commercial governance model across all regions
  • Build, develop, and manage a high-performing global team, including Directors, regional leaders, and individual contributors
  • Establish scalable organizational structures, operating models, and processes to support rapid company growth and evolving business models
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on complex deal structures, commercial risk, and operational scalability
  • Drive consistency, accountability, and operational excellence across global deal approval and contract governance processes

Commercial Deal Structuring & Governance

  • Oversee the review, approval, and governance of complex and non-standard customer agreements
  • Partner closely with Sales, Legal, Finance, and Revenue Accounting to structure transactions that optimize business outcomes while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Provide guidance on revenue recognition and accounting implications related to contract terms, pricing structures, multi-element arrangements, and global transactions
  • Lead escalations and decision-making for high-impact enterprise and strategic customer deals
  • Evaluate multi-year, multi-product, and consumption-based SaaS agreements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and ASC 606

Operational Excellence & Transformation

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the quote-to-order lifecycle to improve speed, scalability, transparency, and user experience
  • Partner with Business Systems and IT teams to enhance automation, workflows, and tooling across Salesforce, ERP, and contract management platforms
  • Develop metrics, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to measure Deal Desk effectiveness and business impact
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions that support global growth objectives
  • Champion process standardization while enabling regional flexibility where appropriate

Cross-Functional Partnership & Leadership

  • Influence and collaborate effectively with senior leaders across Sales, Finance, Legal, Product, Revenue Operations, and Accounting
  • Support executive decision-making through data-driven insights and thoughtful risk assessment
  • Partner with Internal Audit and Controllership teams to ensure compliance with SOX and internal controls requirements
  • Help shape company policies related to deal governance, contracting standards, and commercial operations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer focus, operational rigor, and continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in Deal Desk, Revenue Operations, Revenue Accounting, Commercial Operations, or related functions within a high-growth SaaS or technology company
  • 5+ years of experience leading global teams, including managing managers and senior-level leaders
  • Strong expertise in SaaS business models, enterprise deal structuring, and quote-to-order operations
  • Strong conceptual understanding of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue recognition implications of commercial contracts
  • Proven experience partnering with executive leadership and influencing cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong operational mindset with demonstrated success leading transformation and scalability initiatives
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and executive presentation skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite, CPQ, and contract lifecycle management systems strongly preferred
  • compensation 230,000-270.000 plus bonus & equity
