OVERVIEW:

Dick’s Sporting Goods is seeking a Senior Director, Infrastructure & Operations Engineering leader to lead the technology foundations that ensure stores, distribution centers, digital platforms, and enterprise systems operate reliably at scale.

This role owns network engineering, data center operations, hybrid infrastructure, enterprise reliability execution, and the Test Engineering Center of Excellence, with accountability for uptime, performance, resilience, and production risk reduction across the company.

This leader will play a critical role in protecting revenue, enabling fulfillment, and ensuring operational excellence, partnering closely with cloud platform, product, store technology, and security leaders as Dick’s continues its evolution toward a product-centric operating model.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Infrastructure, Network & Data Center Services:

  • Lead enterprise network engineering across stores, distribution centers, data centers, cloud, SaaS, and corporate locations
  • Own data center operations (facilities, compute, storage, virtualization, resiliency) across two primary data centers
  • Manage WAN, internet, telecom, and carrier services, including lifecycle, resiliency, and cost optimization
  • Ensure high availability, low latency, and secure connectivity for mission-critical retail and digital workloads
  • Drive modernization of infrastructure and network services aligned to cloud-first and SaaS-first strategies

Operational Reliability & SRE Execution:

  • Own enterprise reliability execution, including 24x7 operational readiness and incident response
  • Lead SRE execution and operational resilience, in partnership with platform and product teams
  • Drive incident reduction, MTTR improvement, and operational learning through disciplined practices
  • Ensure systems are designed and operated to meet availability, performance, and recovery objectives
  • Lead capacity planning and resiliency testing to support peak retail demand

Test Engineering Center of Excellence:

  • Establish and lead the Test Engineering CoE as a production risk reduction function
  • Own enterprise test strategy across functional and non-functional domains
  • Drive test automation at scale, including performance, resilience, and regression testing
  • Ensure quality signals and release readiness criteria are defined and consistently applied
  • Partner with DevOps and platform teams to embed testing into CI/CD pipelines
  • Reduce defect leakage and operational risk through engineering-led quality practices

Leadership & Operating Model:

  • Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams across infrastructure, network, reliability, and quality engineering
  • Operate infrastructure and reliability capabilities as long-lived platforms, not reactive services
  • Partner with Cloud Platform, Store Technology, ITSM, Security, and Product leaders to deliver end-to-end outcomes
  • Support global and hybrid operating models, including collaboration with a Global Capability Center (GCC)
  • Establish clear ownership, accountability, and escalation models for operational services
  • Drive a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 15+ years experience in Progressive Technology, network engineering, data center operations, and hybrid infrastructure

  • Proven leadership in large-scale operational and reliability organizations

  • Strong experience with SRE execution, incident management, and resilience engineering

  • Demonstrated success leading enterprise test engineering or quality organizations

  • Experience supporting mission-critical, revenue-impacting systems

  • Strong executive presence and cross-functional leadership skills

Targeted Pay Range: $153,700.00 - $285,300.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
