Alumis Inc. is a precision medicines company with the mission to transform the lives of patients with autoimmune diseases. Even with treatment innovations of the last two decades, many patients with immunologic conditions continue to suffer - our goal is to fundamentally change the outcomes for these patients.

Alumis is seeking a high-impact Senior Director to help shape and deliver U.S. market access strategy for a late-stage immunology asset in dermatology. Reporting to the SVP of Market Access, this role is designed for someone who thrives in a lean environment, takes ownership beyond their title, and drives strategy through execution.

You will operate as a critical member of a small, senior team, expected to deliver outsized impact without the infrastructure of a large organization. This role is best suited for individuals who have succeeded in complex dermatology markets and are motivated to assess issues, identify feasible solutions, make decisions, and operate with efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership in a Lean Environment
  • Partner directly with the SVP of Market Access to shape and refine U.S. access strategy.
  • Own and drive high-priority components of pricing, payer positioning, and access execution—personally and with limited support.
  • Challenge conventional approaches and bring forward differentiated strategies grounded in real-world payer behavior.
Payer Strategy & Market Impact
  • Lead core elements of U.S. payer strategy, including positioning, coverage objectives, and contracting approach in highly managed, rebate-driven markets.
  • Anticipate aggressive payer tactics (step edits, exclusions, reauthorization criteria) and design pragmatic, executable solutions for a small biotech.
  • Engage directly with payer stakeholders and translate insights into actionable strategy.
Value Story & Evidence Translation
  • Anticipate the future and develop clear, compelling payer value narratives that differentiate in crowded dermatology markets.
  • Create compelling and workable outcomes contracting options that augment brand position.
  • Translate clinical and economic evidence into practical tools that drive coverage decisions.
  • Partner closely with HEOR and medical to ensure evidence generation is focused, efficient, and directly tied to access impact.
Launch Execution & Access Readiness
  • Drive critical components of launch readiness, including payer engagement, distribution strategy input, and patient access solutions.
  • Build—not just direct—key deliverables such as payer materials, access assumptions, and strategy frameworks.
  • Partner with Insights and Analytics to create actionable dashboards for field team deployment.
Competitive Edge & Market Awareness
  • Bring urgency and accountability to cross-functional teams.
  • Apply deep understanding of dermatology and immunology market dynamics to anticipate competitor and payer behavior.
  • Recognize patterns from prior market experience and adapt quickly to changing conditions.
  • Continuously refine strategy based on real-time insights.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of U.S. market access experience within biopharma, including an experience in a small company.
  • Proven success driving meaningful components of access strategy in lean or resource-constrained environments.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Dermatology experience strongly preferred; immunology experience required.
  • Experience in highly competitive, rebate-driven therapeutic categories required.
  • Launch experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating in small, agile organizations with limited infrastructure.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence without authority.
  • Agile, solutions-oriented leader with a strong bias for action.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PharmD, PhD, MPH) preferred.

The salary range for this position is $270,000 USD to $320,000 USD annually. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.

This position is based in South San Francisco. Local candidates (onsite Tues-Thurs) are preferred. Will consider excellent candidates nation-wide if they are willing to travel regularly to South San Francisco.

Alumis Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.

Alumis compensation packages include generous stock option grants for all employees as well as an annual bonus program.

Other benefits include:

  • Health insurance premiums paid at 90% for employee, 80% for dependents
  • 401k match
  • Free access to Genentech Bus & Ferry Share program
  • $100 monthly cell phone stipend
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Free onsite gym and a kitchen stocked with yummy snacks and drinks!

We are a hard-working, collaborative team on a mission to transform patient’s lives-- and we aspire to elevatechallenge and nurture one another along the way.
