Position Overview:

Serves as a strategic, operational, and organizational advisor, ensuring effective coordination, alignment, and execution of enterprise operational priorities across the system. This role blends high level operational leadership with enterprise wide strategic management, serving as a thought partner while overseeing the operational cadence, communications, and integration of major business initiatives.
Enables the COO/CPE and operations leadership teams to operate at their highest effectiveness by managing information flow, aligning stakeholders, guiding strategic planning processes, and ensuring cohesion between operational execution, system priorities, and the enterprise strategy focused on quality, service, and affordability.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Healthcare Administration, Business, Management, or related field).

TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations management, administrative services, or related healthcare leadership roles.
  • Experience partnering with C‑suite leaders, physician leadership, and system‑level functional executives.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • This role requires exceptional leadership, judgment, organizational agility, and the ability to operate in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Expertise in operations management, performance improvement, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Exceptional organization, communication (written and verbal), and executive-level presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical, project management, and problem‑solving abilities; able to synthesize information and drive action.
  • High emotional intelligence, diplomacy, and ability to manage complex relationships and sensitive issues.
  • Ability to lead through influence, collaborate across diverse teams, and navigate ambiguity with confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate teams, foster inclusivity, and build a culture of trust and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success working in large, matrixed healthcare environments.

Pay Range is $268,902.40 to $430,248.00 / annual salary

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs. Base pay is only one component of Sutter Health’s comprehensive total rewards program. Eligible positions also include a comprehensive benefits package.
