Flex is a growth-stage, NYC headquartered FinTech company that is creating the best rent payment experience. It’s hard to believe that it’s 2026 and paying rent on time is expensive, inflexible, and difficult. We’re here to change that! Flex enables our users to pay rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances and budget. Our mission is to empower as many renters as possible with flexibility over their most significant recurring expense. After deliberately keeping a stealth profile as we built up unprecedented investor support and an enthusiastic user base, we are looking for motivated individuals to help us keep our mission growing. Will you be a part of the team?

About the Role

As Flex continues its rapid growth trajectory, navigating the complex and ever-evolving partnerships and regulatory landscape is paramount. In today’s environment, regulatory compliance is not just a necessity but a competitive advantage. By staying ahead of the curve, we protect Flex from legal and financial risk while positioning ourselves as a trustworthy, consumer-first partner for renters, property managers, and our bank partners.

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic compliance leader to serve as Senior Director, Product Compliance overseeing a high-performing team of compliance professionals aligned to Flex’s GM operating structure. This team partners deeply with product, legal, engineering, operations, and our bank partners to enable compliant innovation across our lending and payments offerings.

As a leader in Flex’s Compliance organization, you will be responsible for shaping team priorities, ensuring high-quality execution, and continuing to evolve our product governance approach in response to regulatory, partner, and business needs. Your team plays a critical role in ensuring both new and existing products meet applicable financial partner and regulatory requirements. You will drive strategy, set operational standards, and serve as a key advisor in scaling Flex’s products responsibly.

This is a hybrid position with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our New York or San Francisco Headquarters. For candidates outside of the NY/NJ/SF area, you may be eligible for our relocation assistance program.

What You Will Do
  • Lead the Product Compliance team, aligning compliance advisory efforts with Flex’s business goals and product roadmap.
  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight for a team responsible for a wide range of compliance advisory functions, including:
    • New product advisory: Partner with product and legal to shape and support compliant design and launch of new features and offerings.
    • Ad hoc advisory: Act as a trusted compliance resource across the business for nuanced or novel questions.
    • Issue advisory & remediation support: Guide product and operations teams in managing compliance incidents and remediating root causes.
    • Policy development & refresh: Own and evolve compliance policies in collaboration with SMEs and regulatory stakeholders.
    • Training content SME: Inform training strategy by contributing compliance expertise to internal enablement efforts.
    • Product risk assessment support: Embed compliance perspectives in product risk assessments and launch readiness reviews.
    • Regulatory & partner change management: Interpret and operationalize regulatory and partner-driven requirements and changes.
    • Partner management & response: Serve as a compliance representative in partner meetings and responses, supporting relationship health and contractual alignment.
    • Marketing reviews: Review and advise on campaigns and customer-facing materials to ensure regulatory and reputational compliance.
  • Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with product, legal, engineering, and risk teams to deliver responsible innovation at scale.
  • Represent Compliance in external conversations with partners and regulators, offering thoughtful input that balances product opportunity with regulatory clarity.
  • Support the execution of Compliance department initiatives, including audit readiness, documentation improvements, and cross-cutting operational projects.
  • Reinforce and grow a culture of compliance across the organization by modeling Flex’s values and championing sound decision-making.
Who You Are
  • 10+ years of experience in a compliance advisory role, ideally within fintech, consumer lending, payments, banking-as-a-service, or other regulated industries.
  • A strong track record of leading and developing compliance teams, preferably in high-growth or GM-aligned operating environments.
  • Deep subject matter expertise in consumer protection and lending regulations; knowledge of BSA/AML/FinCrime frameworks is a plus.
  • Proven experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, legal, and risk on complex compliance challenges.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to tailor messaging across audiences and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic and solution-oriented mindset—able to navigate ambiguity and make risk-based decisions quickly and thoughtfully.
  • Experience supporting compliance policy frameworks, regulatory examinations, audits, and bank partner due diligence processes.
  • Passion for innovation in financial services, and a desire to help Flex redefine how fintech can deliver responsible, consumer-first lending.
Why Join Us

This role offers more than operational oversight, it’s an opportunity to shape two of Flex’s most critical compliance domains. You’ll gain:

  • High visibility across senior leadership, board, and banking partners.
  • Ownership of compliance areas that sit at the intersection of innovation, consumer trust, and regulatory expectation.
  • The chance to define what “best-in-class” means for product compliance and financial crime risk management in fintech lending.
  • A direct role in positioning Flex as a leader in consumer protection and financial integrity.

If you’re passionate about building scalable compliance programs that both protect and empower, and thrive in dynamic environments where your work drives measurable impact, we’d love to meet you.

The compensation range for this role will be commensurate with the candidate's experience and Flex's internal leveling guidelines and benchmarks. For working locations in NY/NJ/CA, the base salary pay range will be $283,000 - $312,000. For all other states, the base salary pay range will be $255,000 - $281,000.
