Opportunity Overview: 

Cohere achieves its vision by partnering with health plans to transform the way care is delivered through our clinical intelligence platform and AI-powered solutions. As we continue to grow, we're looking for an experienced Senior Strategic Accounts Director to lead executive relationships with our largest health plan clients and drive long-term account growth.

This is one of the most visible client-facing roles at Cohere. You'll own the strategic direction for key accounts, serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders, identify and close expansion opportunities, and champion client needs across the organization. Success in this role requires strong executive presence, strategic thinking, and close collaboration with teams across Sales, Client Success, Implementation, Product, and Operations to ensure our clients achieve exceptional outcomes while expanding their partnership with Cohere.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop, own, and execute strategic account plans for assigned health plan clients while managing multiple complex accounts.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with executive stakeholders to support long-term client retention and growth.
  • Identify expansion opportunities by engaging senior decision-makers and partnering with internal and external influencers.
  • Serve as the internal executive sponsor for assigned accounts, advocating for client priorities across the organization.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and close expansion opportunities within existing client accounts.
  • Partner closely with Client Success to ensure successful delivery and an exceptional client experience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Implementation, Operations, and other internal teams to communicate Cohere's value and drive growth.
  • Translate client feedback into actionable insights that influence product strategy and identify additional opportunities for partnership.
  • Provide strategic guidance internally to ensure Cohere continues to meet evolving client needs and market demands.

What you’ll need:

  • 12+ years of experience working with health plans in account management, client success, consulting, or another client-facing capacity.
  • Deep understanding of the health plan market, industry trends, and executive relationships that drive strategic growth.
  • Proven success developing and executing strategic account plans that result in measurable business growth.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) and commercial health plans, including reimbursement models, state-specific Medicaid programs, market trends, and the executive relationships needed to drive strategic account growth.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to develop compelling business cases and growth strategies.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to contribute wherever needed to achieve client success.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with demanding client expectations.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting as client priorities evolve.
  • Passion for improving the healthcare industry through innovative technology.

  • Previous experience at a startup or in an earlier stage company that was in the process of launching new products

The salary range for this position is $196,000 to $230,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
