The Senior Editor will oversee digital sports journalism, editing and publishing stories, managing budgets, and collaborating with writers and designers.

About the Role
This is a fixed-term role working on soccer and football betting.
The successful candidate will have experience in copy-editing and sub-editing across a wide range of sports, and be comfortable editing in UK and U.S. English.
They will be adept at identifying and commissioning freelance writers, and managing associated budgets.
Responsibilities
- Work to bring a distinctive, compelling, and authentic voice to all digital media products.
- Assist on generating and planning story ideas across a range of sports and editorial platforms, particularly around key events in the sporting calendar.
- Maintain an understanding and proficiency of subscription and engagement metrics.
- Maintain proficiency and knowledge for SEO (best practices available).
- Collaborate with staff and freelance writers on story ideas, and with design on best execution for stories with a clear visual element.
- Edit and publish stories via WordPress and work with social and programming teams to make sure they reach the largest possible audience.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in digital sports journalism.
- Advanced ability to generate story ideas that result in solid engagement.
- Work well with writers on strengthening ideas; strong sense of how to take a single idea and develop it into a broader package.
- Advanced understanding of the following editing tasks: copy editing, story structure, recognising problematic sentences, style guidelines.
- Ability to add context to stories, edit in the writer's voice, ensure fairness, provide story structure.
- High-end knowledge of tennis and global sports.
- This is a remote role with a willingness to work weekends and evenings when the sporting calendar requires.
The annual base salary range for this role is $75,000- $85,000 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location.
For roles in the U.S., dependent on your role, you may be eligible for variable pay, such as an annual bonus and restricted stock. Benefits may include medical, dental and vision benefits, Flexible Spending Accounts (F.S.A.s), a company-matching 401(k) plan, paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement and professional development programs.
