Snowflake is about empowering enterprises to achieve their full potential — and people too. With a culture that’s all in on impact, innovation, and collaboration, Snowflake is the sweet spot for building big, moving fast, and taking technology — and careers — to the next level.

Snowflake's founders started from scratch and designed a data platform built for the cloud that is effective, affordable, and accessible to all data users. But it didn't stop there. They engineered Snowflake to power the Data Cloud, where thousands of organizations unlock the value of their data with near-unlimited scale, concurrency, and performance. This is our vision: a world with endless insights to tackle the challenges and opportunities of today and reveal the possibilities of tomorrow.

Our product offering runs on multiple cloud providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Our infrastructure self-optimizes, provides high availability and data protection across cloud providers so our users can focus on using their data, not managing it.

Our team builds and operates the Cloud Services layer of Snowflake. Cloud Services is the control plane for Snowflake allowing us to dynamically route queries and scale our infrastructure to meet our costumes demand of billions of queries per day. We own the lifecycle and execution of all queries Snowflake processes giving us an opportunity to continually improve our customer's experience on our product while we balance and optimize performance, cost, and easy of use.

We are actively looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow this team as we look to scale our systems, improve efficiency, and enable new compute paradigms for Snowflake users. This is a unique opportunity to have an impact on Snowflake's core infrastructure and shape the vision of core services the rest of Snowflake operates on.

AS A MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE YOU WILL LEAD A TEAM OF TALENTED ENGINEERS IN:
  • Lead and manage a team of managers and engineers responsible for core pieces of Snowflake's control plane and query serving infrastructure

  • Ensuring operational readiness of the services and meeting the commitments to our customers regarding availability and performance.

  • Be comfortable with delegating decisions for part of what is under your leadership to others.

  • Define and execute the technical strategy for Cloud Services, ensuring alignment with Snowflake's overall vision and goals.

  • Partner with other leaders in the Engineering and Product organizations on quarterly planning, staffing, and project schedules.

  • Grow the team by recruiting and hiring new team members and growing existing ones.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning while also promoting practical decision making.

OUR IDEAL MANAGER WILL HAVE:
  • 15+ years industry experience designing, building and supporting large scale systems in production.

  • 5+ years of experience managing managers and leading technical teams.

  • Strong background in coding and problem-solving, with the ability to provide technical guidance and oversight.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with internal customers, engineers, non-technical team members, and executives.

  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams that deliver exceptional results.

  • Excellent understanding of low level operating systems concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking and storage, performance and scale.

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or related fields or equivalent experience
