At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. Trusted globally by thousands of organizations, Tiger accelerates real-time insights, drives intelligent applications, and powers critical infrastructure at scale. As a globally distributed, remote-first team committed to direct communication, accountability, and collaborative excellence, we're shaping the future of data infrastructure, built for speed, flexibility, and simplicity.

Senior Engineering Manager – Tiger Cloud Apps

We're looking for an exceptional engineering leader to build and grow the team behind Console — the primary interface our customers use to work with the Tiger platform, the Tiger CLI and the MCP. This is a high-ownership leadership role on a team that is establishing new ways of working, reorganizing, and pushing hard to execute on product. You'll lead a group of full-stack engineers working predominantly in JavaScript and Go, owning the surfaces and services that push the Console to the next level.

We're looking for a leader who can set technical and organizational direction, raise the bar for quality, and shape a strong engineering culture as the team grows. Staying close enough to the technology to make sound architectural and prioritization calls is essential.

This is a remote and full-time position.

What you will be responsible for
  • Lead, grow, and mentor a team of engineers, owning hiring, performance management, career development, and team health.

  • Own the Console end to end — the UI customers use to operate the platform, including observability, user management, and developer-experience features such as chunk-size optimization and other cloud-only capabilities.

  • Own the strategy and delivery of developer tooling alongside the Console, including the Tiger CLI and MCP integrations.

  • Own billing end to end, from the underlying services through the customer-facing experience.

  • Set technical direction across a predominantly JavaScript and Go stack, balancing speed of delivery, polish, and long-term maintainability.

  • Establish engineering practices, conventions, and culture for a team that is actively reorganizing and ramping up execution, and help drive the broader organizational change.

  • Partner closely with Product, Design, and other engineering leaders to turn a roadmap into shipped, polished features.

  • Be an enthusiastic and personable leader who isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and write code

You'd be a great fit if you have
  • 8+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineers or engineering teams.

  • A track record of building and leading high-performing full-stack teams that ship customer-facing products.

  • Strong technical depth with hands-on experience in JavaScript and modern frontend, plus Go (or comparable backend) services.

  • Experience owning complex, customer-facing domains end to end — ideally including billing, observability, user/account management, or developer-experience tooling.

  • A proven ability to set culture, standards, and direction during periods of growth or reorganization, and to push a team to execute.

  • Strong product sense and the judgment to balance polish, velocity, and reliability.

  • Passion for building experiences developers love, and for developing the people who build them.

  • Bonus: experience with CLIs, MCP, or building tooling for technical/developer audiences.

Our Commitment:
  • We respond to every applicant.

  • We review applications fairly and objectively, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience.

  • We ensure clear and timely communication throughout your candidate journey.

  • We maintain a rigorous interview process with a high bar, designed to give you the opportunity to meet various team members you'll collaborate with across our organization.
