About the role

The Enterprise Application Architect serves as a strategic bridge between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring that enterprise applications, business processes, and system integrations align with organizational goals. This role is responsible for defining and translating complex cross-functional business requirements into scalable technology solutions that span multiple business functions, enterprise platforms, and integrated systems.


The ideal candidate combines strong business acumen with deep enterprise application expertise and a proven ability to drive consensus among stakeholders, optimize business processes, design data models, and lead cross-functional initiatives. This individual will work independently while coordinating efforts across business units, IT teams, vendors, and implementation partners.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in enterprise applications, business systems architecture, business analysis, or related disciplines. Demonstrated experience gathering and defining business requirements across multiple business functions. Hands-on experience with Salesforce administration, configuration, implementation, or architecture. Experience with enterprise ERP platforms such as SAP, NetSuite, or equivalent systems. Experience designing and managing application integrations, APIs, middleware, and custom solutions. Strong business process engineering and process optimization experience. Experience with data modeling and enterprise data architecture concepts. Proven project management experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives. Strong facilitation, negotiation, and consensus-building skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities.
  • Experience with integration platforms (MuleSoft, Boomi, Tableu, Informatica, or similar tools). Experience leading ERP or CRM implementation projects. Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and best practices. Understanding of information security, governance, and compliance principles. Project Management Professional (PMP), Salesforce, SAP, NetSuite, or enterprise architecture certifications. Experience in hybrid cloud and SaaS application environments.


What you'll do

Business Requirements & Solution Architecture

  • Partner with business leaders and functional teams to identify, document, analyze, and prioritize enterprise-wide business requirements.
  • Lead discovery sessions and workshops to understand current-state processes and define future-state business capabilities.
  • Develop end-to-end solution architectures that support organizational objectives while maintaining scalability, maintainability, and security.
  • Evaluate business needs across multiple departments and recommend technology solutions that optimize business outcomes.
  • Create and maintain enterprise application roadmaps, architecture standards, and integration strategies.

Business Process Engineering

  • Analyze, design, and improve complex business processes across functions such as Sales, Finance, Operations, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Professional Education and other business units.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, redundancies, and automation opportunities.
  • Facilitate process standardization and adoption of best practices across the organization.
  • Ensure technology solutions are aligned with desired business processes and operational objectives.

Enterprise Applications & Integrations

  • Serve as the primary architect for enterprise applications including Salesforce, ERP platforms, and related business systems.
  • Design and oversee integrations between Salesforce, ERP systems (SAP, NetSuite, or similar platforms), and third-party applications.
  • Collaborate with development teams and vendors to define integration requirements, APIs, middleware solutions, and data synchronization strategies.
  • Evaluate custom solutions, plug-ins, extensions, and integration tools to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Ensure seamless flow of information across systems while maintaining data integrity and governance.

Data Architecture & Modeling

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support enterprise business processes.
  • Define enterprise data standards, relationships, and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency, accessibility, and reporting capabilities.
  • Support master data management initiatives and cross-system data alignment.

Project Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead enterprise application initiatives from requirements gathering through implementation and adoption.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams, vendors, consultants, and technical resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Build consensus among stakeholders with varying priorities and business objectives.
  • Facilitate decision-making processes and communicate project status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Develop project plans, timelines, resource requirements, and implementation strategies.

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and maintain application architecture standards, documentation, and governance processes.
  • Assess emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve business effectiveness.
  • Support audit, compliance, security, and risk management requirements for enterprise applications.
  • Ensure solutions align with enterprise security standards and organizational policies.


This role pays between $185,000 and $200,000 per year, and your actual base pay will depend on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
