About the Role

  • We are looking for a highly analytical Senior Financial Analyst to drive profitability optimization, pricing strategy, and commercial decision-making across our retail portfolio. This role combines strategic finance and operational analytics, ideally suited for someone with M&A experience and an MBA from a top-tier business school such as Wharton. You will work across Merchandising, Pricing, Supply Chain, and Marketing to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve SKU economics, optimize shipments/logistics, and support potential acquisitions or strategic partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Retail Profitability & Unit Economics
  •    Analyze SKU-, category-, and channel-level gross margin performance to drive assortment optimization and pricing discipline.
  • Build cost-to-serve models across DTC, wholesale, eCommerce, and brick-and-mortar channels.
  • Identify margin leakage in freight, returns, markdowns, and fulfillment costs.
  • Pricing & Promotion Strategy
  • Develop dynamic pricing models incorporating elasticity, competitive landscape, sell-through velocity, and contribution margin.
  • Evaluate promotion structures (BOGO, tiered discounts, seasonal sales) and quantify ROI, customer lift, and cannibalization impact.
  • Partner with the Merchandising and Marketing teams to align price ladders to margin targets and inventory strategy.
  • Logistics, Shipping & Supply Chain Cost Optimization
  • Analyze inbound/outbound freight data, parcel carrier mix, zone-based shipping efficiency, and warehouse handling costs.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain on cost reduction initiatives such as shipment consolidation, DTC vs. store fulfillment trade-offs, and return logistics optimization.
  • Forecasting & Performance Insights
  • Support weekly/monthly business reviews (WBR/MBR), providing insights on sell-through, margin drivers, promotions, and assortment health.
  • Build scenario-based models for inventory planning, pricing events, and market demand shifts.
  • Strategic Initiatives & M&A Support
  • Assist in evaluating strategic targets in retail/eCommerce (e.g., brand acquisitions, vertical integration, DTC expansions).
  • Build synergy models focused on supply chain efficiency, SKU cross-leverage, and scale-based pricing power.
  • Participate in post-merger integration efforts tied to merchandising, pricing, and fulfillment alignment.

Qualifications

  • MBA
  • 3–6+ years in Strategic Finance, FP&A, M&A, Corp Dev, or Retail Analytics
  • Advanced Excel/financial modeling/scenario analysis
  • Strong grasp of retail unit economics (GM%, COGS, ship cost, markdowns)
  • Proven ability to translate financial data into actionable strategies

Nice to have

  • Retail, Fashion, CPG, Omni-channel, or eCommerce experience
  • Exposure to assortment planning, pricing strategy, or promotional analytics
  • Experience with SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, ERP systems
  • Experience in high-growth or PE-backed retail environments

What success looks like

  • Identify a 2–3% margin lift opportunity via pricing tier realignment.
  • Recommend cutting low-velocity SKUs to reduce carrying costs and free up cash.
  • Uncover a 10% logistics savings via shipment consolidation.
  • Develop a strong case for an M&A deal based on category lift and freight synergies.
  • Become the go-to partner for Merch, Supply Chain & Marketing in strategic decision-making.
