Job Description

Kayne Anderson Rudnick (KAR) was founded in 1984 to oversee the family capital of John Anderson. Over time, the firm expanded its services from managing capital for a single family to including family members, friends, and eventually a broader clientele comprising high net-worth individuals, public entities, corporations, endowments, and foundations.

Headquartered in Los Angeles, Kayne Anderson Rudnick is a distinguished asset and wealth management firm with over $50 billion in assets under management and a national team of 135 employees. The firm is an affiliate of Virtus Investment Partners, located in Hartford, Connecticut.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Planner to join our team, dedicated to supporting high-net-worth individuals and families. In this role, you will assist clients in building, preserving, and growing multigenerational wealth through comprehensive financial planning. Collaborating with the Director of Financial Planning and Wealth Advisors, you will develop detailed financial plans, estate reviews, and tax strategies for clients with net worths exceeding $15 million. Your expertise will provide clients with tailored solutions designed to address all aspects of their financial well-being, including legacy planning, charitable giving, tax optimization, and related areas.

This position offers direct engagement with sophisticated clients eager for creative, tailored strategies that reflect their unique goals and aspirations. You will deliver actionable financial planning recommendations, leveraging advanced software platforms and your deep knowledge of holistic wealth management. Your responsibilities will include analyzing and developing financial plans, conducting tax analyses, reviewing estate strategies, and summarizing financial documents—all while building lasting relationships and providing guidance that truly transforms lives.

You’ll also play a pivotal role in strategic projects, collaborating with Wealth Advisors to uncover new opportunities and assist in closing new business. Helping clients navigate their progress and celebrating milestones will be central to your work, as will managing follow-up meetings to ensure their evolving needs are met.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design comprehensive, personalized financial plans, estate reviews, and tax analyses for high-net-worth clients and prospects, supporting the Director of Financial Planning and utilizing the firm’s sophisticated planning software.

  • Partner with Wealth Advisors in delivering holistic financial plans, joining client meetings to discuss results, recommendations, and strategies for building and preserving multigenerational wealth.

  • Assist Financial Planners in updating client plans, conducting diverse planning analyses, and researching emerging topics that impact client financial well-being.

  • Contribute to internal and external projects aimed at enhancing client outcomes, firm marketing, and expanding our holistic planning capabilities.

  • Review client deliverables prepared by Financial Planners, ensuring quality and alignment with clients’ long-term goals.

  • Conduct research on planning strategies, tax laws, regulations, and best practices to support innovative, client-focused solutions.

  • Track client progress, prepare analytical reports, and celebrate milestones that reflect successful wealth preservation and growth.

  • Provide ongoing education to advisors on current tax law and holistic planning strategies relevant to individuals, trusts, and small businesses.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation required; additional credentials such as CPA, EA, or MBA are preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with a strong background in accounting, finance, or economics.

  • 5-8+ years of experience delivering financial plans and analysis for high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients, including tax, estate, investment, insurance, and retirement planning.

  • Demonstrated expertise in financial planning and wealth management in a client-facing role.

  • Experience preparing taxes for HNW and UHNW clients is preferred.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including effective presentation abilities.

  • Proven relationship-building skills with high-net-worth individuals, both in-person and online, to present financial planning concepts and provide client advice.

  • Ability to collaborate constructively within a team-oriented environment and manage priorities to meet established goals for financial planning deliverables.

  • Strong desire to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial small company setting, taking initiative and embracing diverse responsibilities.

  • High ethical standards, financial planning expertise, investment skills, and sound judgment; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and familiarity with eMoney and Holistiplan software is a plus.

This role is based in Century City, CA with up to 20% travel.

This position requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency (Green Card holder) as a condition of employment. We are unable to sponsor work visas or provide support for OPT/CPT programs for this role.

Total compensation, including applicable bonuses and incentives average between $125,000 to $175,000 with a base salary of $115,000 to $140,000. The starting salary offer will vary based on the applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
