Then Jobber might be the place for you! We're looking for a Senior Fraud Risk Operations Analyst to be part of our growing Risk Operations team.
Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. We work with small home service businesses, like your local plumbers, painters, and landscapers, to transform the way service is delivered through technology. With Jobber they can quote, schedule, invoice, and collect payments from their customers while providing an easy and professional customer experience. Running a small business today isn’t like it used to be—the way we consume and deliver service is changing rapidly, technology is evolving, and customers expect more. That’s why we put the power and flexibility in their hands to run their businesses how, where, and when they want!
Our culture of transparency, inclusivity, collaboration, and innovation has been recognized by Great Place to Work, Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and more. Jobber has also been named on the Globe and Mail’s Canada’s Top Growing Companies list, and Deloitte Canada’s Technology Fast 50™, Enterprise Fast 15, and Technology Fast 500™ lists. With an Executive team that has over thirty years of industry experience of leading the way, we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011—but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

The Team:

Fintech is one of the fastest-growing parts of Jobber, and a core strategic priority for us as a company. We're investing in this growing area because we believe embedding financial tools within our product deepens our ability to help small businesses be successful. Whether it’s helping small businesses get paid using Jobber Payments, offer financing to their customers, or access capital to invest in growth - we believe small business owners should have seamless access to financial tools that allow them to thrive.

Our Risk team is a critical part of the broader Fintech team, and core to Jobber’s success—focusing on keeping both Jobber Payments customers and Jobber safe.

The Role:

As a Senior Fraud Risk Operations Analyst, you will play a crucial role in detecting and mitigating fraud losses, ensuring Jobber is protected from financial threats. This role sits within our Risk Operations team, where we leverage technology, AI, analytics, and operational expertise to manage risk effectively.

This is an exciting opportunity within a rapidly growing area of our business. If you have prior experience in fraud operations and a strong growth mindset, this role is for you. You should enjoy hands-on operational work while also contributing to the development and enhancement of risk management practices. You’ll thrive in this role if you have a passion for investigation and uncovering the “why and how” behind fraud risks.

The Senior Fraud Risk Operations Analyst will:
  • Monitor and Review Risk Alerts: Conduct daily risk reviews of accounts and transactions flagged by our fraud models.

  • Investigate Suspicious Activity: Analyze internal, third-party data sources, and publicly available information to detect and mitigate merchant fraud losses.

  • Apply Risk Controls: Implement appropriate risk strategies and interventions to minimize losses while maintaining a frictionless experience for legitimate customers.

  • Engage with Customers: Communicate directly with merchants to address risk concerns, educate them on fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and best practices for avoiding chargebacks.

  • Support Complex Investigations: Work collaboratively within the Risk Operations team to analyze high-risk cases, resolve incidents, and recommend risk mitigation strategies.

  • Drive Process Improvements: Identify and champion opportunities to enhance fraud prevention processes, policies, and tools to strengthen risk detection.

  • Provide Operational Risk Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on risk-related issues affecting Jobber’s customers.

  • Take Ownership of Resolving Issues: Make balanced decisions to mitigate fraud and credit losses with a need for speed.

  • Surface Emerging Fraud Patterns: Review and analyze day-to-day case work, and bring clear, evidence-backed improvement suggestions to the management team.

  • Be Flexible for Business Needs: Availability to work during company and/or statutory holidays as required.

To be successful, you should have:
  • Experience in fraud operations:

    • SaaS, Financial Services, Fintech, or Payment Processing industries

  • Strong domain expertise in merchant risk assessment and fraud detection including knowledge of:

    • Card-not-present (CNP) fraud

    • ACH fraud

    • Chargebacks

    • Transaction monitoring and risk reviews

  • An analytical and inquisitive mindset and the capacity to make complex decisions under pressure in a fast-paced setting.

    • We’re looking for someone with an investigative mindset who can find and interpret suspicious transaction trends, review account activity, internal and external signals for signs of fraud or abnormalities, and take action accordingly.

  • Exceptional communication skills:

    • Comfortable discussing fraud, risk, and financial loss with customers.

    • Strong ability to articulate risk findings in clear, professional, and actionable terms to internal teams.

  • The ability to embrace ambiguity and change.

    • We don’t know what we don’t know, so you should be comfortable coming in and improving the process.

  • The ability to work autonomously with superb time management skills and be comfortable with technology.

    • We are fully remote and distributed across the country. While you’ll be a member of a team and there are connection points, you’ll be on your own most of the day. You’ll need to be a self-starter with the ability to make decisions and find direction and guidance proactively. You’ll be accountable for both your successes and your shortcomings.

  • Team-player and problem-solver:

    • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and develop solutions that balance risk management and customer experience.

It would be really great (but not a deal-breaker) if you had:
  • Experience with modern payment processing tools (e.g., Stripe, Adyen, Worldpay, Checkout.com, Square).

  • Strong knowledge of Visa/Mastercard network rules, NACHA guidelines, and regulatory compliance.

  • Familiarity with fraud prevention vendors (e.g., Riskified, Sift, Ekata, Kount, Socure, Experian, LexisNexis).

  • Familiarity with Slack, Zendesk, Salesforce, Asana, Confluence, Google Suite/Excel and other collaboration tools.

For extended remote roles:

We believe great collaboration is intentional, and that means coming together in person to build, brainstorm, and connect from time to time. This role is open to candidates anywhere in Canada. Employees who live in one of our hub cities—Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, or Kitchener-Waterloo—will participate in their department’s in-office schedule, while employees outside our hub cities will work remotely.

Compensation:

At Jobber, we believe that compensation should be transparent, fair, and reflective of your experience and growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $58,800, a midpoint of $84,000, and a maximum salary of $109,200, designed to show the progression from learning the ropes to truly excelling.

We design our compensation to reflect each new hire’s skills, experience against the complexity of the role, ensuring a fair and competitive salary. Our range is intentionally broad to support growth and long-term impact, with fully established hires typically starting around the midpoint. The higher end of the range is reserved for those who have demonstrated deep expertise and lasting contributions, while offers below the midpoint reflect strong potential with room to develop. This approach ensures that compensation aligns with both an individual’s current capabilities and their opportunity for future growth.

Base salary is just one part of a total compensation package that will include equity rewards, annual stipends for health and wellness, retirement savings matching, and an extended health package with fully paid premiums for body and mind. Your professional growth matters to us too! You’ll have access to a dedicated talent development program that includes career coaching and opportunities for career development.

We believe in transparency and open conversations about compensation. If you have any questions about our approach, we’re happy to discuss them throughout the hiring process!

What you can expect from Jobber:

  • A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, matching in RRSP, TFSA or FHSA, and stock options.

  • A dedicated Talent Development team and access to coaching, learning, and leadership programs to help you grow your career, reach your goals, and unlock your full potential.

  • A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.

  • To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
