About Wing:

Wing offers drone delivery as a safe, fast, and sustainable solution for last mile logistics. Consumer appetites for on-demand services are increasing, but current delivery methods are inefficient, costly, and contribute to road accidents and air pollution. Wing’s fleet of highly automated delivery drones can transport small packages directly from businesses to homes on-demand, in minutes. We design, build, and operate our aircraft, and offer drone delivery services on two continents. Our technology is designed to be easy to integrate into existing delivery and logistics networks, offering a scalable drone delivery solution for a broad range of businesses. Wing is a part of Google's parent company, Alphabet, and our mission is to create the preferred means of delivery for the planet. If you're ready to do the greatest work of your life, come join us.

About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Senior Reliability Engineer to join our Reliability team onsite in Palo Alto, CA. In this role, you will focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) and system-level validation, ensuring that new hardware designs and integrated subsystems meet rigorous reliability, safety, quality and regulatory requirements for our aircraft system.

You will support reliability engineering efforts and collaborate closely with design engineering, systems engineering, test, quality, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to identify and reduce hardware risks early in development, validate system robustness, and support successful product launches.

This is a high-impact, hands-on  position where you'll get to develop technical strategies, and make a direct contribution to the safety and reliability of our aircraft.

What You’ll Do:

  • Define and drive EE and PCBA reliability strategy for drone avionics, power electronics, motor controllers, communications, and sensing systems from design through field operation.
  • Lead system-level validation planning and execution, including mission profile development, accelerated stress testing, and environmental testing (thermal, vibration, humidity, solar load, etc.).
  • Establish and manage system validation protocols including HALT, HASS, ORT, and accelerated life testing.
  • Lead system-level analysis and FMEA/PFMEA to evaluate risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and approve reliability test strategies across all product development stages (proto, DV, PV, and fleet trials).
  • Partner with design, validation, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to embed reliability expectations into all NPI deliverables.
  • Track early fleet reliability metrics, analyze anomalies, and identify degradation trends.
  • Validate that system and vehicle hardware meet the intended use profile and reliability targets.
  • Expand test capacity to support a growing number of components, subsystems, and full-aircraft reliability testing as our fleet and product lines scale.
  • Regularly recalculate test durations and stress conditions to reflect updated usage, evolving hardware designs, and scaling fleet operations.
  • Analyze reliability data using statistical tools and present findings to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure corrective actions are validated at the system and vehicle level before release.
  • Design and develop jigs, tooling, and fixtures to support precise, consistent, and scalable reliability testing.

What You’ll Need:

  • 8+ years of experience in hardware reliability or system validation
  • Bachelor's degree in a directly related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Expertise in data analytics for reliability, including Weibull analysis, predictive modeling, and life prediction modeling.
  • Strong background in NPI, system reliability validation, and accelerated stress testing methodologies.
  • Experience with reliability standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD-810, IPC, AEC-Q100/200, IEC 60068).
  • Hands-on experience with environmental testing, HALT/HASS, and FMEA.
  • Experience partnering with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing cross-functional reliability projects.
  • Strong program management skills; ability to drive alignment across multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts, test plans, and results to a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to manage complex test plans and drive projects to completion.
