The Senior HR Business Partner – Global Container role involves strategic HR leadership, and oversight for their division on HR practices and processes.  This role will support business needs and ensure the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives. This position works at all levels of the HR “stack” — strategic, operational, and tactical - and influences effectively across the company. This role requires direct interaction with regional management and executive levels to provide end-to-end HR support.


The position requires strong proficiency in both English and Spanish—written and spoken—to effectively support teams across domestic and international locations.

 

The ideal candidate is a collaborative HR professional who excels in problem-solving, relationship-building, and navigating nuanced workforce issues. This role offers the opportunity to influence organizational effectiveness, shape HR programs, and serve as a key connector between U.S. and international operations.

  • Oversee change management within the HRIS system for managers, to include pay changes, transfers, retirement, termination, etc. Ensure all guidelines are followed on these actions.
  • Partner with leaders to develop and implement recruiting strategies. This may include the administrative management of recruiting processes to attract high-quality candidates to include creating job descriptions, assisting managers with posting jobs, creating offer letters, communication, and partnering with compensation team to price the role.
  • Partner with HR Management to improve manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solution; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
  • Act as a point of escalation for the HR Generalist for employee relation and leave of absence questions. Partnering to assist in reviewing, processing, and management of leaves of absence, which will include FMLA, State Leave, WC, and other applicable leaves of absence. 
  • Take an active role with senior leaders, regional managers, and HR management in the continual development of people/talent programs, such as recruiting, retention, compensation, benefits, performance management, succession, goal setting, and training – both for the division and at a company-wide level when required.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Oversee and manage a performance system that drives high performance for their division.
  • Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Will assist HR Management in implementing HR processes, policies, change management, recruiting, employee relations, training, and compliance.
  • Oversee and approve change management within the HRIS system, to include pay changes, transfers, retirement, termination, etc. Ensure all guidelines are followed on these actions.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to champion and accelerate a culture of excellence in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results.

  • Collaborate with international HR partners to align and develop a global understanding.
  • Act as a liaison working between the domestic and international container divisions to streamline processes, implement strategies, and further align the company.
  • Take part in creating and updating HR related forms, policies, and processes to ensure the best practices, as well as compliance, are being met.
  • Take an active role in the implementation of new and existing platforms of the HRIS system. This will involve reviewing the best practices, system administration and ongoing continued maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of Human Resources experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of Human Resources strategic leadership with Labor relations and experience working with both Union and Non-Union environment
  • Industry experience in shipping/logistics/transportation/maritime industry preferred but not critical
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws as it applies to ADA, ADEA, EEO and Affirmative Action, FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of strategic workforce planning
  • Superior analytical skills. Experience using and presenting data to make decisions
  • Strong ability to attract and retain talent and work with a motivated high-performance teams
  • Ability to bring immediate credibility to the human resources function through professional qualifications and leadership skills
  • Project the highest levels of integrity while winning through a consultative and embracing personality
  • Superior interpersonal communication and presentation skills, as well as proved organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
  • Proficient in written and spoken Spanish.
  • Ability to work and establish trust with all levels of personnel
  • Listen and ask questions first; take thoughtful action only after the situation and challenges are fully assessed and use data to drive the appropriate solution
  • Collaborative and inclusive when it comes to key decisions
  • Analytical and detail oriented

Work environment:

  • Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Will be required to travel domestically or international up to 15% and work as need after core business hours.

Pay Range

$120,000 - 130,000 per year

Compensation & BenefitsEligible employees (and their families) may qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as having basic life and accidental death insurance, paid disability insurance, including paid parental leave if eligible, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees will receive paid sick and vacation time, and company holidays if eligible. The company also offers paid bereavement leave, and paid jury duty. Eligible employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan, as well as a retirement plan. Employees will be eligible for discretionary and/or metric-based bonuses dependent on their position.
