HOAi is the fastest-growing company revolutionizing the community association management industry. Our AI workforce platform integrates machine learning technology to streamline labor-heavy processes, eliminating inefficiencies and driving scalability. With rapid growth in the AI space, we are pushing boundaries to redefine industry standards. HOAi Agents go beyond traditional AI by proactively executing complex, multi-step processes with human-like reasoning—working autonomously, 24/7, across your entire operation. This transformation optimizes labor costs, enables growth without additional hires, and ensures faster, higher-quality service for residents and board members.

HOAi was acquired by Vantaca in the fall of 2024. Vantaca just achieved unicorn status with a $1.25B valuation, so it's safe to say we're past the "scrappy startup phase." We're not just building a successful company – we're building the category-defining platform that will transform how an entire industry operates.

Here's the reality of our trajectory:
  • Growing 100% year-over-year
  • Our AI product (HOAi) went from $0 to millions in months
  • Backed by Cove Hill Partners and JMI Private Equity
  • 6M+ doors on our platform, displacing legacy systems

Overview

Your customers are our engineers. You will own the path from a commit on a laptop to a safe change in production, and you'll make that path fast, boring, and trustworthy for every pod at HOAi.

Shipping AI products creates a specific problem: a change to a prompt, a model version, or a tool definition can alter product behavior without failing a single unit test. Part of this role is building the release machinery that makes those changes as reviewable, testable, and reversible as any other code change. If you've wanted to own developer experience at a company where it visibly compounds — where the difference between a nine-minute and a forty-minute pipeline is felt by the whole org every day — this is that role.

What You'll Own

  • CI/CD & Build Performance: Own our pipelines end to end. Cut build and test times, parallelize what can be parallelized, and make pipeline results trustworthy enough that a red build actually stops people.
  • Deployment & Release Safety: Own the promotion path from development to production: deploy mechanics, progressive rollout, feature flagging, and fast, reliable rollback. Make shipping a non-event.
  • AI Release Infrastructure: Build the versioning, A/B testing, and rollout infrastructure for prompts, models, and agent configurations. Wire our evals harness into CI so behavioral regressions in tool calling and voice agents are caught before customers find them, not after.
  • Migration Safety: Own the tooling and review path for zero-downtime schema migrations: blocking-lock detection, migration review automation, and surfacing slow queries back to the pod that introduced them.
  • Developer Environments & Tooling: Own local and ephemeral environments, developer onboarding time, and the internal tooling that lets product engineers ship AI features quickly and safely without needing infrastructure expertise.
  • Supply Chain Security: Own security of the build and deploy path: dependency and CVE scanning, secret scanning, SAST integration, artifact provenance, and least privilege on CI runners and deploy credentials.
  • Documentation & Enablement: Document architecture, runbooks, and operational procedures. Mentor engineers on platform tooling and raise the floor across pods.

Expectations for Success

  • Deployment frequency and lead time for changes
  • Change failure rate and time to restore
  • CI pipeline duration and flake rate
  • Time from new-hire start to first production merge
  • Developer satisfaction with platform tooling (measured via our DXI survey)
  • Coverage of evals and security scanning in the release path

Requirements

Required

  • 6+ years in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or developer experience engineering
  • Owned CI/CD for a meaningful codebase, with quantifiable improvements to build or deploy time
  • Built or substantially operated a deployment pipeline with progressive rollout and rollback
  • Strong scripting and automation skills; comfortable writing real code, not only configuration
  • Working knowledge of zero-downtime database migration patterns and the failure modes they prevent
  • Supply chain security fluency: dependency scanning, secret scanning, credential scoping in CI
  • Cloud platform experience (AWS preferred)

Preferred

  • Monorepo tooling and build caching at scale
  • JVM ecosystem experience (Kotlin/Gradle) — much of our platform lives here
  • Experience building test or eval infrastructure for nondeterministic systems
  • Feature flag and experimentation infrastructure
  • Prior work where "developer experience" was the actual mandate, not a side project

Not required: deep database query optimization or production on-call ownership of cloud infrastructure — those sit with our Cloud & Reliability role, and you'll partner closely with them.

Skills & Competencies

  • Treats internal engineers as customers and gathers real feedback rather than assuming
  • Defaults to automating repetitive tasks and building scalable solutions
  • Understands security implications and implements best practices by default
  • Explains complex technical concepts clearly across teams and functions
  • Takes initiative to identify and solve problems before they become critical
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-moving environment

What We Value

  • Extreme ownership: Takes full responsibility for outcomes, not just inputs
  • Customer-focused: Understands how infrastructure decisions impact end-user experience
  • Data-driven: Makes decisions based on metrics and evidence
  • Continuous learner: Stays current with evolving technologies and best practices
  • Quality-focused: Builds systems that are reliable, maintainable, and elegant
  • Velocity-minded: Balances speed with quality; ships incrementally and iterates
  • Bar raiser: Sets and maintains high standards; elevates team performance and output quality
  • Strong delegator: Empowers others effectively; distributes work based on strengths and growth opportunities
