As a client services company, we guide agencies constrained by legacy systems to a future with sharp user experiences built on secure, reliable, fault-tolerant cloud infrastructure. We bill for our time, offering our expertise and problem-solving approach to help our government partners enhance their digital products and services. This focus gives everyone at Nava the opportunity to do work that is meaningful, impactful, and deeply connected to public good.

Position summary

You’ll join cross-functional teams building mission-critical platforms for CMS, designing and delivering systems that support millions of Americans every day. This is work that matters—real production systems that improve access to healthcare and public services. You care deeply about impact, understand that technology isn’t the answer to everything, and know how to apply it thoughtfully to solve the right problems.

You’re energized by building large-scale, inclusive, and resilient systems—platforms that are fast, secure, accessible, and designed with empathy for both end users and the teams who build them. You’ll help set a high bar for simplicity, reliability, and human-centered engineering across FedHealth programs.

As the Senior Infrastructure Engineering Manager (FedHealth/Platform), you’ll lead a team responsible for the platforms that power multiple CMS delivery teams and vendors. Your mission is to unlock developer productivity, strengthen platform reliability, and ensure our engineering investments are aligned with real business and mission outcomes. You’ll coach and grow engineers, shape platform strategy, and stay hands-on—contributing directly to the design, architecture, and implementation of systems that enable teams to move faster, safer, and with confidence.

This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, platform excellence, and public-good impact—perfect for someone who wants to scale not just systems, but the way government technology gets delivered.

What you'll do

  • Guide and develop a team of 10-12 platform engineers by providing coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities, setting clear goals, managing performance, and ensuring accountability
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture, support employee well-being, and lead by example, while aligning team efforts with organizational goals, removing obstacles, and enabling the team to achieve results effectively
  • Work closely with development, operations, security, and architect engineers  to identify needs, incorporate feedback, and deliver scalable and secure platform solutions
  • Contribute directly to the design, architecture and implementation of platform features and capabilities
  • Manage platform engineering budgets, coordinate resource allocation, and optimize costs for cloud and on-premise infrastructure
  • Define and enforce platform engineering standards, documentation, automated workflows, and compliance requirements
  • Ensure thorough documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing across technical teams, promoting internal awareness and adoption of platform solutions across Nava

Required skills

  • At least 7 years in platform development, with at least 3 years in formal management roles, leading sizable technical teams and strategic initiatives
  • Proven experience leading platform or infrastructure engineering teams, establishing strategic vision, and delivering robust platforms
  • Advanced skillsets in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools
  • Ability to collaborate across technical and management teams, communicate complex concepts clearly, and solicit feedback for platform improvement
  • Strong analytical thinking to address technical challenges, drive process improvements, and introduce new tools or methodologies as needed
  • Understanding of security principles, risk management, and regulatory/audit requirements for platform engineering

Other requirements
All roles at Nava require the following:
Legal authorization to work in the United States
Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired
