Job Overview

PhoenixAI is looking for a Senior/Lead Product Manager to join our cloud platform PM team. In this role, you will own critical pillars of PhoenixAI product spanning core SaaS features, cloud deployment, and user experience. This is a high-impact role designed for a deeply technical, systems-oriented product manager who thrives at the intersection of complex backend architecture and intuitive user workflows.

You will own critical product domains, working closely with peer PMs, engineering leadership, designers, and customers to define, design, and deliver improvements across database functionality, operational workflows, and product UX, while also helping drive execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Product Discovery & User Understanding

  • Develop a strong understanding of how users interact with databases and analytics systems—from schema design and query authoring to performance tuning and operations.
  • Drive customer calls, deep-dive demos, usability reviews, and feedback sessions.
  • Translate complex customer feedback and technical patterns into actionable product requirements and UX improvements.
  • Validate product decisions using real customer scenarios and usage patterns.

Cloud User & Product Experience

  • Own the user experience across database, cloud, and UI surfaces.
  • Translate product requirements and complex database concepts into clear UX artifacts that engineers can implement.
  • Create and maintain UX flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups in Figma.
  • Ensure consistency, usability, and intuitive end-to-end experiences across the product.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure UX and product behavior align with design intent.

Product Development and Execution

  • Define, prioritize, and track comprehensive product requirements, including advanced user stories and strict acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate with engineering to track sprint commitments and deliverables.
  • Proactively manage technical dependencies, resolve open architectural questions, and close execution gaps across cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain Jira (or equivalent) boards: grooming tickets, tracking progress, and ensuring execution clarity.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management in developer-facing products, with a heavy emphasis on Cloud Platform, SaaS Infrastructure, or Developer Tools.
  • Deep, proven experience shipping or managing database technologies, SQL query engines, distributed storage systems, or cloud platform infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with Figma or similar tools to express product and UX ideas.
  • Ability to reason about technical systems and user workflows.
  • Experience working with engineering teams in Agile / Scrum environments.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Hands-on familiarity with modern OLAP engines, distributed databases, or SQL query performance tuning.
  • Prior experience with Kubernetes, data governance, cloud security, or other cloud platform-related technologies.
  • Prior experience at a DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) or infrastructure-heavy startup.
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, Notion, Linear, or similar.

The base salary for this role is projected at $150,000 - $230,000 annually, plus eligibility for PhoenixAI's bonus and equity programs.

Individual compensation will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. We also provide a comprehensive benefits package featuring premium medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan. Employees enjoy at least 16 days of PTO, parental leave, health savings options, and access to our employee assistance program.
