Overview

FMI's Training Institute is seeking an experienced and engaging Leadership Development Senior Facilitator to support the continued growth of our Custom Cohort Programs, a rapidly expanding offering that delivers multi-session leadership development experiences for construction industry clients.

For more than 70 years, FMI has partnered with organizations across the built environment to develop exceptional leaders and build stronger, more profitable businesses. We're looking for a seasoned facilitator who combines exceptional facilitation skills with a consultative mindset and a passion for helping leaders and organizations grow.

As a Leadership Development Senior Facilitator, you'll lead highly interactive learning experiences that help leaders strengthen their skills and drive meaningful change within their organizations. This is not a traditional trainer role. Success in this position requires the ability to read the room, adapt to different client environments, facilitate meaningful discussion, and tailor the learning experience to each cohort. You'll serve as a trusted partner to clients, bringing credibility, flexibility, and sound judgment to every engagement while helping shape participant experiences that create lasting impact.

Travel is approximately 70–80%, primarily for client program delivery throughout the United States.

This is a full-time position that can be remote, with preference given to candidates located near FMI's Raleigh, NC or Denver, CO offices.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. FMI is unable to provide visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of leadership development programs across FMI's Custom Cohort Programs, creating engaging learning experiences for leaders at all organizational levels
  • Facilitate discussions, activities, and coaching conversations that connect program content to participants' real-world leadership challenges
  • Adapt delivery in real time based on participant engagement, organizational dynamics, and client objectives to create meaningful learning experiences
  • Build trusted relationships with participants and client stakeholders while delivering an exceptional client experience before, during, and after each engagement
  • Partner with internal teams to prepare for successful client engagements, including session planning, content refinement, and development of client-ready presentation materials
  • Mentor and support developing facilitators through co-facilitation, coaching, modeling, and constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with Operations Managers, facilitators, and internal partners to continuously improve program quality and participant outcomes
  • Apply consultative thinking to help clients strengthen leadership capability, communication, team effectiveness, and organizational performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Organizational Development, Psychology, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in facilitation, leadership development, consulting, executive coaching, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Proven experience facilitating leadership development programs with diverse audiences, from frontline leaders to senior executives.
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to quickly build credibility and adapt to unique client environments.
  • Experience designing or refining learning experiences, activities, or facilitation approaches preferred.
  • Construction industry experience or demonstrated ability to work effectively with construction industry leaders strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity, manage group dynamics, and facilitate difficult conversations with confidence.
  • Passion for developing leaders and mentoring other facilitators.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States (70–80%).
